I was just on her site and there is a news link about her having a restraining order on her ex-boyfriend. With a pic of the ex......and you'd be amazed to see the ex looks like the "poi" in Kelsey's abduction.
 |
Did they take down her site , I can't get into it It says Cpanel??

How profoundly sad this news is about another senseless crime against a vibrant young woman with her life ahead of her. WTF is wrong with these people that can do such horrible things to another human being. It is so hard to understand how often something like this happens, particularly in America.

i just noticed that Equusearch has "postively identified" the body. Not sure if it was them who found her-
Kelsey Smith body found - Police have reportedly scoured an area 20 miles east of the target area. Kelsey Smith was found dead in a creek, according to FOX broadcast reports.
A Video report is available here.
EquuSearch has confirmed the identity of the body as 18-year-old Kelsey Smith who's abduction was caught on camera. She was seen being forced into her car at a Target store. Kelsey disappeared on Saturday around 7PM.

edit to add-
This broke my heart-
Smith's sister, Stevie Hockersmith, 23, has been helping coordinate volunteer efforts.
"He doesn't know what he's in for," she said. "Honestly, she'll raise all hell, and she won't stop. Kelsey won't stop until her body makes her stop basically, until she just can't go on anymore."

I will never understand senseless violence against anyone. That poor girl and her family...seriously, what is wrong with people.
At this point we can only hope that they find the sob responsible!

To think things like this are happening on almost a daily basis is really frightening. And more and more often they are happening in broad daylight...many times right in front of people. There is no such thing as a "safe" community any more

Funny woe, because as I watched Kelsey's father tonight, I began to
think that in america there doesn't seem to be a day that goes by
that a woman or child doesn't disappear and brutally killed. We hear
of them every day and I'm quite sure there are many others we don't
hear about. It really is disturbing and reminds me how safe it is here
in this province where I live. We rarely have these types of incidents,
thank God.

Heli we don't here either in quebec, hell most of canada. remember when the 50th murder by gun occurred in toronto and it was such a big thing the Prime Minister spoke out on it,? its a city the size of chicago.
Yet our laws are more lenient, our gun control stricter. No DP, in fact within the two years after we repealed the death penalty our violent crime dropped by 10%.
however when we do have sickos they really are sickos. Clifford olsen, the picton pig farmer and of course ken and barbie.
vengeance is a normal reaction but i firmly believe that many of our "lenient" laws are what keeps our stranger abductions/rapes/murder levels low. Not as many kids locked up for years in a system that teaches them nothing but violence so when tehy are released they get worse, rehabilitation is the emphasis even in adult prisons and when we let out murderers after their 10 to 25 years they seem to reintegrate far better. Perhaps because they have hope they will get out? Europe is like that too. Something like Madeleine's case gets world wide attention bc its so rare.
Statistics show that countries with the death penalty have commensurately higher murder rates than those without. Countries with strict gun control laws have fewer murders than those without. I believe in the trickle down effect.
we have our psychopaths but seems to be far far fewer "regular" everyday murders of children and young women per capita percentage than the US.
Not saying we are better, just different and perhaps the attitude towards crime and punishment should be reexamined to see if there is a way to change the attitudes among the screwed up, the delinquents etc.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Police arrested a man in the abduction and death of a teenager whose body was found Wednesday in a Missouri park four days after she disappeared from a Kansas store's parking lot.
Authorities said 18-year-old Kelsey Smith's body was found at a lake in Grandview, Mo., about 20 miles east of where she had disappeared Saturday. They did not say how Smith died.
Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass identified the suspect as Edwin R. Hall, 26, of Olathe. Hall was expected to be charged Thursday with premeditated first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.
Douglass said Hall was interviewed Wednesday after police acted on a tip that matched him to a vehicle seen in surveillance video pulling into the Target parking lot about a minute after Smith parked there.
He declined to comment on the circumstances of Hall's questioning or evidence in the case.
Douglass said Hall appeared to be the same person shown in the video walking into the Target soon after Smith entered the store.
"I want to again express my condolences to the Smith family," he said. "I realize that this is not the preferred conclusion. While we cannot give them their daughter back, we can at least give them justice."
Johnson County, Kan., prosecutor Phill Kline said charges would be filed Thursday morning.
"This community has lost a vibrant and promising life and a family has sufferered unimaginable tragedy," he said.
Kline said his office would ask the state to set bond at $5 million. He declined to specify whether investigators had determined that Smith was killed in Kansas.
Douglass said police had received more than 500 tips in the case and had questioned numerous people Wednesday, including Hall.
Officers had been searching woods at the lake since Tuesday after investigators traced two signals from Smith's cell phone to an area about 15 miles east of the Target store in suburban Kansas City.
Before a church memorial service Wednesday evening, Smith's father thanked everyone involved in the search.
"She could walk into a room full of strangers and walk out with a room full of friends," Greg Smith said at Hillcrest Covenant Church in Prairie Village, Kan.
"Her excitement and passion for life was unmatched," he said, fighting tears. "She lived more in 18 years than many people do with a great deal more time."

My heart goes out to this family. Why did he have to kill her? It just makes no sense. Most of us have children and grandchildren. Teach them to fight as hard as they can and never let anyone get them into a car. Scream, scratch and kick.
The police focused on the person on the video film and description of his vehicle. There is nothing that can be done to take away the loss of their daughter but at least this creep will be taken off the streets where he cannot hurt anyone else. I hope he will be tried in Missouri where they are harder on murderers.

I watched the video of the parents statement and it broke my heart, she was such a beautiful good girl with wonderful parents, my god she was only going to the store. Why did he have to kill her?
You know what do you tell your kids? I mean you tell them about strangers about the dangers of drinking/drugs ,you tell them to let you know where you are going to be at all times.
Years ago when I was waitressing at bar , my ex husband didn't want me driving home late alone, so I usually either got a ride with the bartender or got a taxi home.
There was this guy that came in a few times, I swear he had to be the best looking guy I have ever seen so I wasn't the least bit concerned, and we had general conversation mostly about the hockey game. he asked if i was married and I said i was. Well one night he got real drunk and tried to jump in the taxi when I was leaving . I was pretty upset but just thought the guy was drunk and acting stupid but asked the cab driver to make sure he didn't follow us.
Well when I got home, I got out and he was there in the bushes, I have never been that scared in my life and thank-god my husband was awake with the baby or I don't know what would have happened.
This guy had to have followed me home nights before this incident to be waiting for me when I got home.
Its a scary world out there and no matter how careful you are.

Hello everyone, I just joined here.
This is so sad! I agree with the other posters here - absolutely senseless!
I hope they are able to pile on as many charges as possible on this guy and that he never gets out of jail!

Did anyone know about the other missing girl from the same area?
Should the new have done beter coverage of that girl? Maybe Kelsey
would not have gone to the store alone if the family knew about the
other missing girl who happens to look like Kelsey!

I don't think they look alike just IMO but I don't think better coverage would have helped, she went to the store at 7pm not at midnight or anything.

hi tess, welcome!
it is senseless and tragic. I .. i guess the word is understand but not quite, people who kill others they know. either thru love turning to hate or heat of the moment. Still senseless and tragic but i think we can all at least grasp why it happens.
This.. broad daylight, right near the entrance of the store (not parked in a back lot) and a stranger is unfathomable.
He will never see the outside world again thank goodness. Did anyone hear the interview with fox by the bf this morning? He seemed like such a terrific young man who is grieving.
