Barry Manilow Cancels 'View' Appearance

The popular crooner says no to "The View."

BARRY MANILOW tells his fans today via his Web site that he has canceled his Tuesday visit to "The View" because he doesn't want to be interviewed by ELISABETH HASSELBECK.

"I had made a request that I be interviewed by JOY, BARBARA or WHOOPI, but not Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Unfortunately, the show was not willing to accommodate this simple request so I bowed out."

The singer, who was scheduled to appear to promote his new album Barry Manilow: The Greatest Songs of the Seventies, says he's disappointed about having to cancel.

"It's really too bad because I've always been a big supporter of the show, but I cannot compromise my beliefs," he says. "The good news is that I will be on a whole slew of other shows promoting the new album so I hope you can catch me on those."
