I want to apologize to VC and Fash for my inappropriate public comments regarding decisions made in moderating this forum. It was hasty and bad judgment on my part, and I should not have publicly aired my disagreement with their decisions, but waited for them to respond privately in the staff forum.
My remarks were not made with the intent to undermine their authority or create any opportunities for them to feel publicly chastised. They both care for this board a tremendous amount and have worked very hard. My public remarks were out of line.
I hope that everyone understands that regardless of where you stood on Tulsad's deactivation that being on the staff and making judgment calls here is tough and there are always two or more sides to every situation, and the "perfect" solution/action does not exist, IMO. There's always room for error. Staff often feels "damned if we do, damned if we don't." So, I regret making my remarks and making it even more stressful for the moderators to make decisions here.
Fash and VC have my respect for sticking their necks out here on a daily basis. I apologize to everyone for making my feelings on this issue public and creating a divisive situation.

Inappropriate Public Comments
I'm so sorry you've been put in this position, Joy.
Many of us appreciate your addressing what seemed like a confusing and unfair situation.
I've hesitated to respond to Joy's apology.
Seeing it made me feel so frustrated with what has happened.
Posting this may well be my swan-song, so, in case my post results in my being banned, goodbye all.
I have no desire to disrespect VC or Fashionista; however, some things shouldn't go without comment, in my view.
Here are some inappropriate public comments:
Quote:
It's blacks themselves who have brought race into this. Look at that guy from Atlanta NAACP who came out immediately and defended Vick....that was a while back, I probably don't have the link anymore....Oh yeh, Whoopi is most defenitely sticking up for a brother. You better believe it.
Quote:
Oh I have NO doubt whatsoever that whites are involved in dog fighting. But you won't find a disproportionate number of whites defending those persons. As you will a disproportionate number of blacks defending a black dog fighter/abuser/torturer.
Now THAT'S fact.
Quote:
You totally bore me, "tulsad". Why don't you go over and post about how outraged you are about the human torture case? I'm sure that demands your attention. You and your sidekick Katrina are derailers of the highest order.
And here are some exchanges:
Quote:
Tulsad: Despite what some might like to believe, there are racist comments on this thread.
SavannahStar: I really thought we had progressed past the days of JennyM and her righteous indignation and moral superiority.
Tulsad: That is a cheap shot.
SavannahStar: Call it what you like, it's true.
You shoulda been here then and seen what I mean. This whole situation now on here is EXACTLY what is what like back then. You couldn't say "boo" before Jenny would chime in accusing you of racism.
Oh those were the days.
Tulsad: My saying that "there are racist comments on this thread" does not mean that I am accusing anyone of racism. I'm not going to give an example because I don't want to focus on that; my point was that there may be people who are being hurt by insensitive remarks that are made without thinking. [snip]
SavannahStar: Oh, excuse me, I got it now......you're protecting yourself by defensively saying someone made racist comments, but oh hey, they might not be racist....just made the comments. Okaaaaaaaaaaay.
Tulsad: My saying that "there are racist comments on this thread" does not mean that I am accusing anyone of racism.
SavannahStar: What? It means EXACTLY that!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, excuse me, I got it now......you're protecting yourself by defensively saying someone made racist comments, but oh hey, they might not be racist....just made the comments. Okaaaaaaaaaaay.
Tulsad: I'm not going to give an example because I don't want to focus on that; my point was that there may be people who are being hurt by insensitive remarks that are made without thinking.
SavannahStar: Well again we can agree to disagree. I don't think anyone on here said anything "without thinking"......how can you be so judgmental as to assume that? As to "insensitive remarks," GMAB. Personally I think Whoopi's remarks were pretty damn insensitive. I don't have a problem with anything any of our posters said on here.
Geez and to think that all the Whoopi/Vick case posts are going along just fine and dandy over at CTV, which is WELL KNOWN for its archaic censorship. And look what we have now here on RU. I NEVER would have believed it. I'll just repeat, I thought the JennyM days are over. You sound JUST like her.
Tulsad: ETA: I think Vick is a cruel pig. I do believe that Whoopie was speaking about Vick from the vantage point of a black woman - but I do not believe she speaks for anyone but herself; certainly not all blacks.
SavannahStar: I totally agree here and you'll find that is exactly what I said, upthread.
And I think Whoopi is also a cruel pig! AND a racist. Now dare I post that? Might be "insensitive" huh?
Quote:
Need2Know: Keep separating everybody by color, that is the way to go. Cheers to you.
SavannahStar: Hey even Miss Politically Correct Tulsad said this, and she is absolutely right:
Quote:
I do believe that Whoopie was speaking about Vick from the vantage point of a black woman - but I do not believe she speaks for anyone but herself; certainly not all blacks.
Now you can close your eyes to facts because they apparently offend you, but they are still facts.
SavannahStar: Hey even Miss Politically Correct Tulsad [snip]
SavannahStar: I don't get the purpose of the justaposition, frankly. I don't understand the reason for posting the link.
Tulsad: This thread is full of outrage about dogs being abused. The link is to a story entitled:
Where is the outrage when humans are abused?
and you don't understand the reason for posting the link????????????
SavannahStar: Nope, other than I do think there is some FALSE "outrage" over the ERRONEOUS assumption that people who care about dogs being brutalized don't care about people being brutalized.
Tulsad: I realize that you believe you are clever, but you keep digging that hole deeper and deeper.
SavannahStar: You totally bore me, "tulsad". Why don't you go over and post about how outraged you are about the human torture case? I'm sure that demands your attention. You and your sidekick Katrina are derailers of the highest order.
Tulsad: Careful, your p/a nature is showing. Taking a discussion regarding outrage over Vick's involvement in dog fighting down the path toward racism isn't derailing, but comparing the outrage over the torture of pitbulls with the outrage over torture of humans is?
Tulsad: Maybe it's time to celebrate your great respect for all people. Why don’t you call up some of your black BFFs you made when you worked in DC, Bhammy can call some of her gay BFFs – and you can all go out for a nice dinner of chitlins and gravy accompanied by fru-fru drinks with little umbrellas stickin’ out of ‘em.
SavannahStar:
Is that you Jenny?........er Gloria??????
Tulsad: That seems to be your answer whenever you're cornered. If you can't beat them with a logical response, accuse them of being someone else - with no foundation for doing so, of course.
SavannahStar: Why don't you suggest what you think would be a "logical response" to this stupidity:
(Tulsad:) Maybe it's time to celebrate your great respect for all people. [snip]
Never mind. Tell ya what, "tulsad,"you just go right on thinking you "cornered" SavannahStar. Yeh, that's the ticket.....a real ego boost for ya. Go on now.
Tulsad: I assure you that I do not believe that I cornered the high and mighty Star. You did a fine job yourself.
Exactly how important do you seriously believe you really are in the scheme of things?

Joy - thank you for the opportunity to post on a great board with great people. I would hope that we can all learn from our past mistakes and that what we do learn helps to make us better people.

Could this have been avoided?
I bet a million you would never be saying this joy --- had VC asked for your opinion and input in the first place.
Don't be too hard on yourself.
Sorry VC, but regarding the above,
TRUE DAT!

Get your lips out of Joy's ass cheeks.....she explained it, no need to smack down VC for it.

Hey pat, THIS kind of post deserves a TO when written in a decidedly moderated forum IMHO IMO JMO.
Tulsad got a TO didn't she? What about this post by pat

I'd say that post was over the top pat. Even for you. It Definitely falls under the name calling, personal attack and insulting categories.
