I hope that you take the adjustments in stride, wvgirl. Just think of all the little mini-Christmases that you get to have.

I hope you have a wonderful Holiday. Different is just different. I know that my traditions have changed over the years and it all works out.

Best Wishes.

You know I can totally relate. Mine are all scattered and when I can't get them all together I still get upset. I guess I take it kind of personal but I this year I think I am just gonna chill. I do miss the nite before excitement with Santa coming but I get to have the grandsons over Christmas eve and that will help.

Hope your Christmas is everything you want it to be and remember it is really great that you can spend even a little time with the ones you love. Very Happy

Thanks, Pat, for the menus! And the hippopotamus song really has revived my flagging spirit...that and Simon from Duran Duran in all his 80's glory...and he still looks good.

I have been making lots of decadent candies like divinity and toffee and some Christmas balls Wink I like to give it all away to my neighbors...now that the sex offender has moved away, I feel good about going door to door with my treats!

DocTar, I'm glad you got a good menu. I was going to suggest turkey pot pies and malt liquor, so pat's suggestions are much better.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holidays. I'm going to some friends', for better food than I'm capable of cooking, lol.

DocTar, Pat's menu is delicious! Mmmmm...

We will have something quite simple:

Christmas Eve:

Potatoe Salad with mayo, pickles, eggs and Wieners

Christmas:

Red Cabbage, Dumplings and Turkey Drum Sticks
(just similar like the pic)

For Desert Gluehwein and Chocolate Cake:

And for some Christmas Spirit:

Silent Night on acoustic guitar

International Herald Tribune
Report: Queen Elizabeth II to air Christmas message on YouTube

The Associated Press
Monday, December 24, 2007

LONDON: Queen Elizabeth II will urge everyone to care for the vulnerable and those excluded from society in her annual Christmas Day message, palace officials said.

The queen will also pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the armed forces in her speech, Buckingham Palace said.

Tuesday's message marks 50 years since the queen's first televised Christmas message and will set a new milestone by being the first posted on the video-sharing Web site YouTube, the palace said in a statement.

In a preview of this year's speech, the monarch is seen standing in Buckingham Palace, watching black and white footage of herself delivering her first televised broadcast.

The footage of the queen's 1957 Christmas TV broadcast, posted on YouTube on Sunday, reminds viewers that TV once was as groundbreaking a creation as the Internet is today.

"I very much hope that this new medium will make my Christmas message more personal and direct," the queen said of television in the 1957 broadcast. "That it is possible for some of you to see me today is just another example of the speed at which things are changing all around us."

During preparations for this year's message, the queen, in an apricot colored dress, can be seen walking into the palace's opulent 1844 Room, which is filled with lights and production equipment, and preparing to start her address.

The festive speech, which was produced this year by the British Broadcasting Corp., remains confidential until it is aired, both on TV and radio, on Christmas Day at 1500 GMT.

The 81-year-old monarch chooses a different theme for each annual address, the one occasion in the year when she writes her own speech without government advice. In last year's address, she called for mutual respect between young and old and greater religious tolerance.

The queen delivered her first Christmas message on the radio in 1952, a month after her coronation.

The royal YouTube page — which bears the scarlet lettered heading "The Royal Channel - The Official Channel of the British Monarchy" — is illustrated with a photograph of Buckingham Palace flanked by the queen's guards in their tall bearskin hats and red tunics.

Its modern video clips show shots of garden parties, state visits, the queen, the many British prime ministers who have served during her reign and a day in the life of her son, Prince Charles.

The Royal Channel also shows excerpts from Lord Wakehurst's film "Long to Reign Over Us," which has never been publicly released. Wakehurst, a member of Parliament who died in 1970, was an avid amateur film maker, charting events such as Queen Elizabeth II's accession and coronation.

The color images convey the historical events from the public's perspective, showing crowds holding street parties and camping out on The Mall — the wide boulevard outside Buckingham Palace — to catch a glimpse of the queen on Coronation Day.

The Royal Channel also includes rarely seen silent news footage of the 1923 wedding of the queen's parents, then known as the Duke of York and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon.

On Tuesday, Queen Elizabeth II's annual Christmas speech can once again be downloaded as a podcast from http://www.royal.gov.uk. It also is being made available on television in high definition for the first time.
