"ignore" for unregistered users
we need to clear the data base of this, some several months after discussing. people are ignoring almost everyone and unless you login, nothing is visible for the casual observer / non registered without login person.

Huh?
It has nothing to do with unregistered users, just that someone has hit the ignore on vile posters usually, or those that have to get personal with their own experiences, which is something else that isn't needed. So pretty well most of the posters are on ignore.

HI
You make it sound like it is default, it is "expected".
The preverbal 'small coda excuse' .. that's how it is .. I'll ffush it 2 times per week.
Small idea, get of your lazy ass, and fix it properly whether you have to do the monumental task of asking phpBB support or sticking a query in their SE, to continually sit here ad "flush" it , like it's the "ultimate bug" in all of PHP, you know what, get a fucking clue. mm'kay?

Hi Kay, maybe you could help me explain why I seem to have myself on ignore when I never put anyone on ignore.

I dont understand, I guess. How does my ignore list affect others? Is that what they are saying? I admit I have quite a few on ignore, but didn't realize that would stop others from reading.

What happens is sometimes when you put someone on ignore, it also sets the flag for user number -1 which is the anonymous user. I have contacted the author of the mod and posted for assistance elsewhere with no success. LOL the consensous at PHPbb is maybe it will make then join, don't sweat it......
So what I do is at the same time that I do the activation of new users I also uise a database tool and go and remove any ignores set for -1.
Woe, it is not ignores that are already set, but when someone sets a new one that causes the problem.

Thanks Kay. I didn't want to be the cause of someone else not being able to read

Kay ,why do I not have an ignore button? I don't need to ignore anyone at this time, but if it's on every RU user, I'd like to have the option. Can I correct it? or can you? TIA.

Don't worry about it, worst case is that if you put someone on ignore so you do not see their text, you may (about a 25% chance) block a non signed in readers from reading it, but only for a couple of days until I flush the block

As you can see, I read more than I post here but often if I'm not logged in I'll see several nics that show they are on my iggie list and I'm confused since I've never put a poster on iggie.
Thanks for the explanation (even tho I'm still not clear on what that means) lol.
on another subject-
One thing I've thought about that might make things a bit "neater" is to move some of the really old stickies to some Sticky Forum for Retired Notices.

hmm, I can see your post that has an iggie button on it, but when I read my post I don't have the X by it. Maybe it doesn't show for the user, are you trying to ignore your own posts?
I'm just guessing that to ignore a poster, you click on their X button and that's how you add them, therefore you don't get the option of that with your own post.

We have a different ignore mod installed, one that is secure and has been approved for the mod database
I have absolutely no intention of trying out an unvetted mod

Hi Kay.
Just thought you should know that several members are on ignore to the unregistered reader, one of which is myself. It has been like this for several weeks.
I just signed on saw it, posted about it, signed off, signed back on and my name is clear. Is there a trick to clearing one's name from that list so that the unregistered can read all of them?
