Wake up Conservatives. Time to move on from the same old, same old ideology.

California's Republican governor a fan of flip-flopping

“Schwarzenegger advised Republican presidential candidate John McCain to move from the right to the center for the general election — and suggested his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, move to the center from the left.”

"Someone has made a mistake. I mean, someone has, for 20 or 30 years, been in the wrong place with his idea and with his ideology and says, 'You know something? I changed my mind. I am now for this.' As long as he's honest or she's honest, I think that is a wonderful thing. You can change your mind," Schwarzenegger said. "I have changed my mind on things and there is nothing wrong with it."

Schwarzenegger Suggests He’s Open to Post Under Obama

“Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California, who has endorsed Senator John McCain and called his fellow Republican a role model, suggested in an interview broadcast Sunday that he would be willing to serve as an energy and environment czar under Senator Barack Obama should he win the presidency.”

“Mr. Schwarzenegger said that whether he held a position in an Obama administration or not, he planned on traveling the world to promote clean energy after his tenure as governor......”

Latest Political Funnies:

New Yorker magazine cover showing Barack Obama wearing traditional Muslim clothes, fist bumping his wife Michelle, who is dressed as a militant, while they are standing in the White Oval Office as an American flag is burning in the fireplace, beneath a portrait of Osama bin Laden. Laughing

"The burning flag, the nationalist-radical and Islamic outfits, the fist-bump, the portrait on the wall? All of them echo one attack or another. Satire is part of what we do, and it is meant to bring things out into the open, to hold up a mirror to prejudice, the hateful, and the absurd. And that's the spirit of this cover," a New Yorker statement said.

Laughing I thought so too, but was hesitant throwing something crazy like that in such a serious topic Cool O/T and all that Wink Laughing

But seriously, don't even want to vote this year. Embarassed I take very seriously my right to vote, but just don't know which way to go this time. Not only on the economy although I do feel the regular ole working man/middle class person is so screwed either way. (I realize we have been for some time, but it's now almost impossible to keep our ( small businesses ) head above water. ) and healthcare? Wow, that has only been a dream for my husband and I for the last 2 years. Shocked Let alone giving our 5 employees that option Crying or Very sad Our federal, state and local taxes; worker's comp (which just became privatized July 1), liability insurance, and fuel (which are all mandatory to own a company/business in wv) are outrageous and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Ok rant over. My goal today was to stay off this computer except for shopping around for lower cost wc insurance (what I headache). I check into RU and get distracted everytime Laughing

Have a good day. I appreciate all that everyone brings to the board regarding the election/candidates. Thanks

Where’s the Beef, McCain ?

“Senator McCain wants to talk of our tactics in Iraq; I want to focus on a new strategy for Iraq and the wider world," Obama said.

"This war distracts us from every threat that we face and so many opportunities we could seize. This war diminishes our security, our standing in the world, our military, our economy, and the resources that we need to confront the challenges of the 21st century. By any measure, our single-minded and open-ended focus on Iraq is not a sound strategy for keeping America safe."

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=2008-07-15_D91UCSRG0&show_article=1&cat=breaking

“As president, I would pursue a new strategy, and begin by providing at least two additional combat brigades to support our effort in Afghanistan. We need more troops, more helicopters, better intelligence-gathering and more nonmilitary assistance to accomplish the mission there. I would not hold our military, our resources and our foreign policy hostage to a misguided desire to maintain permanent bases in Iraq. “

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/14/opinion/14obama.html?em&ex=1216267200&en=693dcfabffcdace0&ei=5087

McCain again fails to address what specifically are his rationales, metrics and conditions for U.S. military involvement in Iraq; But he does an excellent job of analyzing Afghanistan policy:

Obama promises amnesty for illegal immigrants

Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama today speaking to the National Council of La Raza in San Diego promised amnesty for the more than 12 million illegal immigrants that are living in the United States.

Here’s a bit of what Obama had to say: “Yes, they broke the law. And we should not excuse that. We should require them to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for citizenship - behind those who came here legally. But we cannot - and should not - deport 12 million people. ”

Obama went on to say: “That's why we need to offer those who are willing to make amends a pathway to citizenship. That way, we can reconcile our values as both a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws.”

That’s amnesty any way you look at it. How does “a nation of laws” ignore the fact that 12 million people broke the law of the land by granting them amnesty?

Do you really suppose he’ll insist that all of those 12 million people learn to speak English? Does that mean we won’t have to “press one for English” anymore?

This is shameful pandering to a group that doesn’t give a hoot about what’s best for America.

A real leader wouldn’t pander this way. What should be done is to insist that anyone who applies for citizenship should have to do so from their country of origin. Anything less is amnesty and a slap in the faces of all those who came here legally.

The border wall should be completed. Once that is done we should streamline our immigration process to make it easier for immigrants to be granted legal entry if they are willing to learn English and become Americans.

Saying he is "sympathetic to late night comedians' struggle to find jokes to make about me," Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill) today issued a list of official campaign-approved Barack Obama jokes.

The five jokes, which Sen. Obama said he is making available to all comedians free of charge, are as follows:

Barack Obama and a kangaroo pull up to a gas station. The gas station attendant takes one look at the kangaroo and says, "You know, we don't get many kangaroos here." Barack Obama replies, "At these prices, I'm not surprised. That's why we need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil."

A traveling salesman knocks on the door of a farmhouse, and much to his surprise, Barack Obama answers the door. The salesman says, "I was expecting the farmer's daughter." Barack Obama replies, "She's not here. The farm was foreclosed on because of subprime loans that are making a mockery of the American Dream."

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender says, "Why the long face?" Barack Obama replies, "His jockey just lost his health insurance, which should be the right of all Americans."

Q: What's black and white and red all over?
Barack Obama: The New Yorker magazine, which should be embarrassed after publishing such a tasteless and offensive cover, which I reject and denounce.

A Christian, a Jew and Barack Obama are in a rowboat in the middle of the ocean. Barack Obama says, "This joke isn't going to work because there's no Muslim in this boat."

But that's not how it turned out, since the thin skinned Obama pitched a hissy fit over the picture.

Gee you think that maybe the picture is too close to the truth for Obama's liking.

Curiously Obama has removed all traces of him opposing the troop surge in Iraq from his website.

Wonder why he did that?

Anybody?

Not to worry.

That flip flop is on video tape.

******************

Latest flip-flop:

“In a break with past Bush administration policy, a top U.S. diplomat will for the first time join colleagues from other world powers at a meeting with Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, The Associated Press has learned.”

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=2008-07-15_D91UKVO80&show_article=1&cat=breaking

Last week the right wingers were blasting Obama for advocating doing this. Laughing

Obama also said today that he wants to move 2 combat brigades out of Iraq and into Afganistan. And McCain said see you and raise you.

So it looks like Obama is setting U.S. Foreign policy even before being elected President. Laughing

(CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama said that if he's elected president in November, he will seek input from military commanders on the Iraq war and the fighting in Afghanistan. "But ultimately, the buck stops with me," he told CNN's "Larry King Live" in a wide-ranging interview Tuesday.

"I am convinced that strategically it is time for this [Iraq] war to end," Obama said, adding he believes the United States can withdraw combat troops from Iraq within 16 months while leaving "a residual force to engage in counterterrorism activities" and protect diplomats.

The senator from Illinois said the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts have worsened because the Bush administration has emphasized war tactics more than an overall strategy. Obama said Bush and McCain "have missed consistently ... the broader strategies."

"Was it wise to go in there? And what are the costs and benefits of staying there?" Obama said, adding that the Iraq war costs $10 billion each month. "My job as commander-in-chief is to look at the whole picture."

Obama added: "I want to bring this war to a close, but I do want to consult with our commanders on the ground to find out tactically how do we do it in a safe way and how do we make sure that the gains that have been obtained with respect to violence in Iraq are sustained." He said, "Perpetuating the strategy we have in Iraq is costing us elsewhere, not only in Afghanistan but also investments that we could be making here at home."

While Obambi isn't afraid of the Axis of Evil dictators, he is afraid of answering hard and probing questions from O'Reilly which the American people might see and thus learn what Socialist programs Obambi has in mind for America. But Obambi rather go on Larry King Live which has a viewing audience of maybe 10 people
