J: Every hotel has one
P: Oh. In the hotel.
J: Each hotel has ONE.

J: No just outside. Near the swimming pool.
P: Ok.
J: They are everwhere….each hotel…it’s not normal how many of these phone booths are out there.

P: But one thing I don’t understand.. Okay, she lies there and she’s dead, heh…. That friend… heh…I know this friend is your father. I know it Joran.
J: No, no, no.
P: Why not? Why would somebody who picks you up tell you “You have to go to school”. After you said that to me, I knew it.

P. The only thing I believe is that there is something with these shoes that you don't want people to see.
J. No, of course not. I still have these shoes. I just had told the boys (note FJ: think it's the Kalpoes) that I left the shoes behind. So stupid... so stupid!
P. Yeah, that was really stupid, man! But I just don't get it, you know. The penny doesn't drop. Why would someone do a thing like that? And how thorough I try to think this through about why I would do such a thing, what do I want to achieve with that? That's only provoking more attention. And even if I'd done such a thing, I would have never told them.
J. No, but look, that's exactly it. It was just a load of bullshit with the police. That thing had emerged then. I even have put on the same K-Swiss shoes when I was with the police... during the interrogations I put them on the table. And then these were size 14 and I had told them that I have size 12, you know. Exactly the same shoes... extactly the same...I put on the table.
P Oh. Hahaha.
J Bam! In front of the detectives. Then during the interrogations, Patrick, then I told him: "Yes, those shoes were just like these." Just to screw them for a moment, you know? Then he said: "Take off your shoes!" And this is all on camera, you know? Three cameras were there in that room and then I said: "I'm not going to take off my shoes."

There are phone booths outside of every hotel ~ for INTERNATIONAL calling ONLY! As they are provided for the tourists. NO local phones can be made!
Patrick is just trying to put his own spin on things. To make some $$$ with his book. To muddy the water more. IMO, it's worthless!

Is anyone expecting that ANY truth is been told in that book?

Yes, they are both liars but ... the car transcripts can be proven false. Which i don't think Patrick's co-author or publisher would want to happen. I think Joran lied often in his book - but i don't think he faked the PV snippets. For example.

imo yes. Would be pretty silly to fake transcripts. As was pointed out, it's not just Patrick but also editor, ghost writer and publisher.

some of these we saw on tv
remember all are edited. they will show you what they want you to see. anything that casts joran in a positive light will be deleted. anything raising doubts about his confession will be deleted. i think they are opening themselves up for a big fall.

Well, one thing that jumped out at me from these excerpts:
For someone just telling what Patrick wanted to hear, seems like he missed a big one. Patrick repeatedly tried to get him to implicate his father but he didn't.

is that the new party line? he sure put a lot of effort into just that. even had to do 3 grams a day to make joran comfortable enough to talk. joran suspected him of being a narc of some kind. who knows if the coke changed his mind. he may have played them both. in any case he says he lied by telling patrik what patrik was bugging him to tell. a fairy tale.

iquitos, I don't follow anyone's party line and I thought you knew that by now. I never said I agree with the drugs used or the lying. Everyone involved is playing someone.

Here are some more excerpts that Jonathan doesn't have up yet, or maybe didn't include because they're not direct quotes. Again, translation by and hat tip to fierljepper:
"Joran speaks very highly of his father and (pretty convincingly) says that he is extremely honest and would have turned him. Joran also says that he has lied to both his parents and to his lawyers (who he called stupid).
The planned meeting with Daury doesn’t take place since Joran calls Patrick in the morning to explain that Daury had just left the country that day.
Joran provides some interesting details about Daury:
• He was only a year in NL
• Joran knows him since he was 5 years old (!)
• He has “business” that require him to fly between Aruba and NL
• He has people working for him and recently an American woman who works for him has been caught in possession of cocaine. Daury had freaked out, since he was very afraid she would talk. "
"Just got the book "Overboord" written by Patrick. Full of interesting new details.
Quick one that immediately caught my eye is that Joran has told Patrick that he always kept his K Swiss shoes and even wore the same pair during the famous interrogation in prison when he slammed them on the table and bluffed about the size 12/14. The reason why he put so much pressure on the shoe story is that he was "so stupid, so stupid, to tell that story to the boys in the beginning" (i.e. the Kalpoes)."

Joran says that he did not have intercourse with Natalee.
Joran defends Natalee against the apparent claims that he she had been in a “kick-off clinic” or was on drugs that night. He says he has never seen proof of these rumors.
Joran lies to Patrick that the text message said “Thanks for the lift, see you tomorrow”. Patrick doesn’t fall for this.
Joran says that the friend who helped him wanted to go to the police. Joran didn’t want that. Then the friend called a third person and after that told Joran to go home and that everything would be arranged. Joran says that he though the friend called for a boat.
Joran says that in hindsight he should have just told what happened but didn’t know at that time how big it would become."

Joran says that they had something against Satish since he talked very nervously to his girlfriend in Suriname the first two days after the event. Police even talked to the girlfriend.

Joran explains that they had nothing against him but even came up with a conversation between his brother and his girlfriend at the time who also was named Natalee.

The name Joran mentions is Daury Davens. Dutch mother, Aruban Father. Patrick thinks that Joran knows about the "Atrako" (=robbery) and that's the thing he holds against him. Patrick and Joran make plans to actually meet the guy who apparently is in NL at that time (Jan. '0 ."

said joran called his father stupid on the de vies tapes. i don't remember that. i see here in any case he defends his father's integrity. did we know about natalee's rehab when they boys were in the process of fucking over joran? i think not.

So Peter went to Aruba and stood over a drain saying Joran had thrown his shoes in one while all the time Joran had also been saying he never threw the shoes away. So what made Peter go with the thrown away version?
Peter picks the version he likes?
No wonder the judge didn't buy it, Joran can't even keep his story straight over the few weeks of taping.

Sorry, iquitos. A BFN member, fierljepper, got the book and gave us some quick excerpts in his own words. Later, he gave some direct translations from the book. Jonathan put the direct translations on his site but not fierljepper's summaries in his own words.

Patrick tried very hard to get Joran to implicate Paulus. So far, from what fierljepper gave us, Joran refused to do so. Unless something different comes out later, for me, that ends the 'what he wanted to hear' story.
