I tried it and scanned over a couple threads - the only posters that came up on ignore when I was logged out were gwen and GBMW. |
Why would SM put GBMW on ignore when she's a member there? Seems pretty random to me. Thanks for taking the time.

I'll be honest...I really haven't paid attention to who is accusing who and how or why of what in this ignore fiascso. I find it a riot and the day that I don't have anything better to do than keep logging in and out to see who's on ignore is when I know the end of posting is near for me.

So when you start going all Mel Gibson on us we should start planning your going away party? Let's all hope it doesn't ever get there.

I'm wearing an "I Survived the MedJet Theory" tee-shirt.
I'm not falling for any of this stuff anymore. It was my first time on a message board. I've lived and learned.

I don't think that you even believe that....
----
Tears and fears and feeling proud to say "I love you" right out loud,
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, I've looked at life that way.
But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads, they say
I've changed.
Something's lost but something's gained in living every day.
I've looked at life from both sides now,
From win and lose, and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall.
I really don't know life at all.

Keep.
I actually logged in tonight with the intention of putting yet another fatuous poster who has a lot to say but nothing to contribute on ignore.
It seems to me that the problem isn't the ignore function as such, but that for some odd reason it is active for non-logged-in readers. This may be reasonable for the use of admin/mods but it's strange that anyone seems to be able to place any poster on ignore for non-logged-in readers. That aspect certainly should be changed.

It can't be changed.
It can only be disabled.
Therefore- I say- Toss It.

If it can't be changed.
Let it at least be capable of being ignored.

I am sorry to see the ignore function go...but as it is, I need to spend less time reading here. The same old same old is getting old, and I can't seem to get the knack of skipping over the posts of some of the more blatant spinners. Couldn't fix it, huh....

In fact, I am going to log out and not read any notifications of any topics I have been reading and not read here any more today.

Hi Doc! You can do it! It's just a matter of will power. Whenever you see a certain nic of avator, scroll by without reading. I do it all the time. And did it in the past on other boards where there was no Ignore button.
Have a wonderful 4th July!

Where can I get me one of those tee-shirts? I'd also like one that says something along the lines of 'Fairytales do not come true and there is no BEDB.' The latter was more wishful thinking on my part I'm still open to new suggestions as I'm not quite sold on the Joran theory
pat, let's share a toast to first time on message boards
Happy 4th of July, my friend

"The computer requires that we do it this way".
No, the programmer made a judgement and decided that it was going to work this way.
Let's hope by version X we can all individually customise if we have an ignore button or not.

There is a bit more to this feature than what the intent was/is.
http://www.refugeesunleashed.net/viewtopic.php?t=14898
For example:
Quote:
Someone other than RU Administration now has control over at least one aspect of the board. Member or not, if you are not logged in, you will only be "allowed" to read what another member has chosen for you to read via blocking certain members posts. That, like it or not, is censorship.
The monkeees, or HMI, take your pick, can now censor anyone- even members of RU- if they are not logged on. And there isn't a damn thing that can be done about it.
Clicking the ignore feature for a particular member puts that member on the list for all folks- member or not, if you are not logged in. It stays there until it is cleared, sometimes daily, however, it is a simple thing to just recreate that list.
Most days the threads look like SM- you see no dissenting view points- just monkey poop. Beth must love it. Cause she knows that Media sources don't sign up to be members on Message Boards- they just read them. It's called LURKING. Common practice on the internet. Unfortunately, as a result of this board feature, we now have censorship- the very reason this board was created in the first place.
--------------------------------------------------------
Reason enough to get rid of the ignore function. Who knew it could be used by evil monkeys? Speaking of Monkeys, when I was on vacations over the long weekend, I bought something called "Screaming Monkey". It's a small stuffed monkey (best kind), wearing a cape and little eyeshade thing, and when you pull his arms back (which are elastiscized) you can fling him across the room while he screams. Very funny.

Actually, if even one person is prevented from seeing both sides, then the ignore feature should go. The entire world is certainly not reading this site, but there are people who are interested in balanced discussion and being able to view both sides of any controversy. Otherwise what we'd have here is SM II, and I'm sure you wouldn't want that. ; )
(edited because I screwed up the quote from lin, I need to take "Quotes 101", sorry.
