I dont believe its being used. I've seen many say a poster is on ignore only to respond to a post of theirs later.
To me the ignore makes following along hard. Plus if you ignore someones likely to quote them anyway.
HE wouldnt be as active if it was used.

I voted get rid of it.
I never use it. It's not needed....you can scroll by posts you don't care for. Anyway if a poster is on your iggy list and they get quoted, you see what they say anyway.
Useless.

Hi VC. Hope you and your 'babies' are doing well.
I voted 'NO'. Using 'ignore' puts blinders on. I really don't see the point in saying you want to discuss something, if you don't want any other opinions.

That's an excellent point too, DD.
I think I'm really dead against it also because for YEARS over on CTV all we ever read was "CLICK, YER ON IGGY." Dumbass comments like that....G vs. NG.....well you know all too well I'm sure.
It's a stupid childish game.

What's really funny is when people use it, they forget that because they can't read other posters comments, the other posters can still read theirs!

I voted: No, i don't like it.
It's rather: No, I don't need it.
If I don't feel reading certain posters posts, I just scroll by their posts.
Furthermore, it seems, some are using it to just "play games".
Another reason: Sometimes I read on other boards without being a member there. And I don't want to sign up at all those boards just that I could read there. The "Ignore" button leaves lots of "blanks" for those who just want to read at RU. JMO.

I don't need it either.

I agree CK. I have no problem scrolling on by if I don't want to read someone's post. I can certainly understand why it was put there, but it does seem that some are abusing it so maybe it served its purpose and it is time to get rid of it now.

Voted 'I don't like it' although the ignore button is not necessarily a bad thing. However, I prefer not to use it; the English language not being my mother language it would easily confuse me regarding the 'flow' of the discussion going on at that particular moment..

I miss a third option: "I don't care", that would be my choice.
Now I voted NO because of the non-members who complain that almost everyone is on ingnore what makes the board unreadable.
I don't use the function myself. Too curious I guess.

I take my glasses off instead of using ignore.

I agree CK... I've used it with only one or two posters in the past but just wound up taking them off because they were either quoted anyway or just to follow the entire flow of discussion.
I have no problems ignoring who and what I want to ignore.
I know admin went to a lot of trouble to put it in for us but I do agree with you that now some my be using it to play games.
I say just do away with it.

There are posters on both sides of the fence that I don't really care to read from. I find the ignore function would be useful instead of scrolling past things that are not pertaining to the case, rather attacking character of posters and people involved in cases.

I'd say I have to agree with that. Don't get me wrong, I've used it plenty back in the day, but when I just checked to see who I actually had on ignore, the few were not even current posters, well except for one , but I deleted everyone on my list. There are enough games going on, and if the ignore feature is just giving those members another way to f#*k with the board, then by all means, do away with it.

I voted do away with the Ignore feature.
IMO the Ignore feature would be OK but one I would not use myself; however, there is the potential for abuse as configured now as one poster can cause at least a temporary global Ignore for visitors and not logged in RU members.
