Nicole Kidman gives birth Monday in Nashville to girl named
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nicole Kidman gave birth Monday to a baby girl named Sunday.
In a statement emailed to The Associated Press, Paul Freundlich, a publicist for husband Keith Urban, said: "Nicole and Keith Urban are delighted to announce that Nicole Kidman gave birth to a baby girl on Monday morning, July 7, 2008, in the United States. Sunday Rose Kidman Urban weighed 6 pounds, 7 1/2 ounces. Husband Keith was by Nicole's side and mother and baby are very well."
Urban posted a message on his website that said: "Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today."
The baby is the first for Kidman and Urban. She has two adopted children, Isabella and Connor, from her marriage to Tom Cruise. Kidman recently told Vanity Fair that she had a miscarriage early on in her relationship with Cruise, leading them to adopt.
Cruise filed for divorce in February 2001 after 10 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized later that year.
Kidman, 41, won an Oscar for her role in the 2002 film "The Hours."
During a concert Saturday in Nashville, Urban, a singer and guitarist raised in Australia, said, "I'm going to dedicate a song to my very, very, very, very, very pregnant wife" before singing his hit, "Better Half."
Urban, 40, won a Grammy in 2006 for best male country vocal.

Joe Friday?
Hey I actually know a kid in my church named Friday. He's from Ethiopia, with his family. They were part of one of our mission churches over there, and then came to America. He was born on Good Friday and his Mom named him Friday!

Nicole Kidman's Mom, Sister in U.S. For Baby's Birth
Aussie Nicole Kidman's mom Janelle and sister Antonia were on hand in Nashville this morning when the Oscar winner and her husband Keith Urban welcomed their baby girl, according to People magazine.
"The birth of Nicole and Keith's daughter is such wonderful news and a beautiful addition to our family," mom of four Antonia told the mag regarding baby Sunday Rose Kidman Urban.
Nicole's mom and sister arrived in Nashville over the weekend, the mag reports, while the actress' father, Antony, looked after her nieces and nephews back in Sydney, Australia.

Why Sunday?
NICOLE Kidman and Keith Urban have reportedly taken newborn daughter Sunday Rose home, just a day after she was born.
Hospital staff told the media the new family set off for their secluded property outside Nashville just before midnight local time.
The news comes after Kidman's father solved the mystery behind his newborn granddaughter's name, telling The Daily Telegraph it was inspired by Australian artist Sidney Nolan's muse, Sunday Reed.
Antony Kidman revealed he and his wife had suggested it.
"There was a lady named Sunday Reed who was a prominent patron of the arts in Victoria," Dr Kidman said from his practice in Lane Cove.
I have read a bit about Sunday Reed and her husband John - she was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century. The name Sunday struck me as being a nice name for a woman, so my wife and I mentioned it."
Sunday Reed was famous for her patronage of the arts, but also for her relationship with Sidney Nolan. Reed and her husband took part in a menage-a-trois type affair with the artist, which lasted nine years in the 1930s and resulted in Sunday becoming Nolan's muse.
The connection could be the reason behind Kidman and Urban's keen interest in a Sidney Nolan exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW shortly before they announced the pregnancy.
The exhibition, in January, featured a quote about birth from Nolan which was scrawled across a wall. "When you are young you are given a good view of life, because of your closeness to birth," it read.
Kidman appeared mesmerised by this quote, staring at it for a long time before Keith wrote it down.
"It was among other names being mentioned but they decided that was the name they wanted," Dr Kidman said.
Urban's brother Shane could not contain his excitement as he spoke to a Sunshine Coast radio station, revealing the baby's second name was a tribute to their late grandmother Rose.
"It's a wonderful wonderful thing, I'm so, so proud," he said.
The Nashville-based country music star posted his emotive, heartfelt message on his official website, where he thanked fans for all of their "thoughts and prayers".
Kidman's Mother Janelle and sister Antonia were both introduced to the newest member of their family yesterday, having travelled to Nashville in time for Sunday Rose's highly anticipated arrival.
Having turned down all lucrative media deals, the couple are expected to release a photo of Sunday Rose soon.

Tom & Katie Send Baby Gifts to Nicole & Keith
The Cruise family has sent along a present to welcome little Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, PEOPLE has learned.
Contrary to some reports that Tom Cruise gave ex-wife Nicole Kidman a "room full of flowers," the actor and his family – including Cruise's children with Kidman, Bella, 15, and Connor, 13 – actually sent a huge baby basket to Nashville.
The high-end gift included chenille Giraffe baby blankets, items from the Hermes baby line and other newborn necessities.
Kidman, 41, gave birth to Sunday Rose at a Nashville hospital on Monday morning, with husband Keith Urban, 40, by her side for the smooth delivery.
"We feel immensely blessed and grateful to be given this beautiful baby girl," the happy couple said in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE. "She's an absolute delight."

isabella and connor 2 adopted children of nicole and tom, reside with tom and katie....nicole supposedly gets them on holidays and part of the summer holidays...supposedly they worked it out that way.
isabella and connor are adopted....rumor has it.....suri is SUPPOSEDLY his natural child, but many doubt it....... she's definitely katie's natural child.
one of the reasons nicole and tom got divorced was that she got pregnant........ tom (by many accounts) cannot get a woman pregnant. that's how he found out she was cheating on him.... she miscarried that baby as they were splitting up.
there was only one time i heard tom tell either letterman or leno, "she knows why we split up" meaning nicole....when urged to tell tom once again repeated....she knows why..

Nicole Kidman to paparazzi: Leave baby Sunday alone
SYDNEY (Reuters) - Hollywood star Nicole Kidman and singer husband Keith Urban asked the paparazzi on Thursday to leave them and baby daughter Sunday Rose alone, saying she was a "tiny doll" who would be scared by the attention
"She's tiny. She's like a doll, she's like a little, little thing. Just (don't photograph) right in her face or in our faces because it's scary for her," said Kidman.
Kidman, country music star Urban and baby Sunday arrived in Sydney on Wednesday, after the Oscar-winning actress gave birth in Los Angeles in July.
Unlike other celebrities, no photographs of Sunday have been released and Urban said they had no intention of selling any.
"I get the interest there is. But at the same time it's our little girl," he told the breakfast radio show.
"Sometimes when people come right up in your face and you think: 'Good God, would you do that to anybody else's child?' That's all," he said.
Local media said paparazzi followed Kidman, Urban and Sunday to their home on Sydney Harbour, with the couple using several decoy cars to try to avoid photographers. A newspaper published grainy photos of the couple arriving on a private jet, with Sunday bundled up in a blanket.
As they pleaded for privacy, Kidman and Urban, like all parents, were happy to talk about their baby.
"She looks like Keith. I think she does. She's got a little bit of hair, it's a bit of a reddish tint," said Kidman, a redhead with freckles as a young girl.
Urban, who said he was speaking from the kitchen with Kidman and Sunday nearby, said being a new dad was an "awesome" feeling that only other fathers could understand.
"Anybody out there who's got kids (knows) it's just a certain kind of feeling that you can only experience when you do it," he said. "She's just awesome... cute little thing. I'm not looking forward to having to go on tour and having to leave."
Kidman said she was now looking forward to introducing her little "doll" to the rest of her Australian family.
"We have brought her home to meet the grandparents. My dad hasn't met her. Keith's mum and dad are coming down (from Australia's tropical Queensland state)," she said.

Nicole Kidman Shows Photo of Sunday
A beaming and, at times, emotional Nicole Kidman appeared Monday on The Oprah Winfrey Show to dish on life with Sunday Rose, her 4-month-old "miracle baby" with husband Keith Urban. Following an ectopic pregnancy, a miscarriage, and "so many years" spent trying for a baby without success, the 41-year-old actress admits that she had begun to believe that she was not meant to have a biological child.
"I had two beautiful adopted children, and just thought, 'Well that's not my path. That's not what I'm going to get to experience.' And I [was] fine with that.'"
Because the pregnancy came as "a shock," Nicole says she is acutely aware of her good fortune. "I talk about it because...there's a huge number of women who have experienced miscarriage, and it's very traumatic," she explains. "I was very very lucky at this stage in my life to be blessed with a baby girl." Her two children with ex-husband Tom Cruise -- Isabella Jane, 15, and Connor Antony, 13 -- are lucky to once again welcome a baby sister, having welcomed Tom's daughter with wife Katie Holmes, 2 ½-year-old Suri Cruise, in 2006. To hear Nicole tell it, her older two children have taken to their new roles with ease.
"They've very used to having children around. They grew up with cousins, and Suri, and now Sunday Rose. But Connor is like, 'I want a boy. That's great and everything mom, but why don't you have a boy?'"
When asked by host Oprah Winfrey whether she and Keith will try for a son, Nicole simply smiled and replied: "God's plan."
Click 'more' to read about Sunday's birth and why Sunday is Nicole's favorite day.
Describing Sunday as "gorgeous" and the spitting image of Keith, Nicole showed the audience a small photo of her sleeping daughter she carries in her wallet. She teared up while recalling Sunday's birth, revealing that with a female doctor, a female doula and numerous female relatives present, Keith was the only male in the room. "And then Sunday Rose came out screaming," Nicole recalled. "That is such a good sound."
"You're like, 'Oh thank you God, she's okay.' It makes me cry. Don't even get me started. I think something happens when you give birth...I cry so easily now. I don't know why."
From the sound of things, Nicole's emotional response began even earlier; she shares that she cried during her first ultrasound. "When you see that little heart beating inside of you...Wow," she says. "That's an extraordinary thing to experience." As has been previously reported, Nicole's father first suggested the name Sunday in honor of Australian patron of the arts Sunday Reed. The couple "loved" the name, but for more than that reason. "That's our favorite day," Nicole explains. "If you're lonely Sunday is a very lonely day, and if you're happy and you've got your family around you, then Sunday is a beautiful day...So our baby's called Sunday."
