When Joan Collins played bitchy Alexis Carrington in Dynasty two decades ago, she was the highest paid actress on television.
But the credit crunch must have reached even the privileged surroundings of Hollywood.

Ms Collins, 75, was shopping for groceries in the Target superstore in West Hollywood, California, with her fifth husband, theatre manager Percy Gibson, who is 32 years her junior.
After wheeling the trolley around the aisles and paying for the items, she loaded the bags into the boot of the couple’s car - a Rolls-Royce, which looked a little out of place among the more humble saloons in the car park.

Ms Collins’s portrayal of the vengeful ex-wife of the tycoon Blake Carrington in Dynasty made her one of the most celebrated stars of the Eighties.

She has also appeared in many films and is poised to return to the big screen in a new thriller called Cowboys For Christ.
But, although she is something of a globetrotter with homes in London, New York and St Tropez, she insists

She said recently: ‘I don’t have a trust fund. I don’t get residuals from Dynasty, which was my biggest earner.

'Those stars in Friends and Frasier would laugh at that now. They make $1million an episode. I was making $110,000 an episode. Even the people who play butlers on some TV shows make that.’

She added: ‘I am also rather good at spending money. I’m very good at making it but I am very bad with the bit in between, like investments.’
She is not the only celebrity to have been hit by the worldwide credit crunch.

Actor Nicolas Cage, who earned about £19million in the past year, has reportedly had to sell his luxury yacht for £3million.

World's Fattest Man Marries!

This is bitter-sweet.

The world's fattest man has just gotten married.

43 year-old former mechanic Manuel Uribe, who hasn't been able to leave his bed for the past six years, just got married to his longtime girlfriend, Claudia Solis, this weekend in Mexico.

His wife made her entrance at the ceremony while walking down a flight of stairs, wearing a strapless ivory dress and a tiara.

Uribe, however, had to be brought in a bed decorated with a canopy in white, with flowers and gold-trimmed bows, while being lifted on a flatbed truck.

The truck was escorted by two police patrol cars through traffic before arriving at a local event hall.

Uribe wore a white, silk shirt with a sheet wrapped around his legs.

In attendance for the wedding, were over 400 guests. They were served meat, buttered veggies, and a five-tier wedding cake.

And as for their first dance, the newlyweds held hands and swayed to a slow song.

The wedding was closed to most media, though it will be featured in an upcoming Discovery Channel documentary on Uribe.

Before the wedding, Uribe told the reporters that were following him through the street to the wedding that, "I have a wife and will form a new family and live a happy life."

Let's hope he gets to live long enough to enjoy his married life.

Back in 2006, Uribe weighed in at an incredible 1,230 lbs! He then earned the Guinness Book of World Records' title for the world's heaviest man.

Luckily, though, after meeting Solis four years ago - with her help - Uribe has been able to lose about 550 lbs.

He now hopes to become the world's largest weight loser.
