Dallas's 2ND annual RACE FOR THE CURE ~ It's Showtime
Dear Friends and Family,
I recently accepted the challenge to raise funds to support the Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure on October 11, 2008 in the fight against breast cancer.
One in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime and the more we raise, the more the Arkansas Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure can give back to fund vital breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in our own community and support the national search for a cure. Please join me in the fight by pledging in support of my participation in the Race or contributing generously to Komen Arkansas Affiliate.
Your generous tax-deductible contribution will fund innovative outreach and awareness programs for medically underserved communities in Arkansas and national breast cancer research.
It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress. Save a Life! Help me raise $150 to pay for a mammogram.
Ann Brown, 2008 race chair, is volunteering her time in honor of her three young daughters. Help find the cure! Remember -- this one's for the Girls!!
Thanks for your support
Nancy/Dallas

Dallas, what was the race like last year? Did you meet anyone who has breast cancer? That's a great organization. I wish you all the best with this year's run. Where is it being held this year?

Yes, pax there were 1000's of survivors. they honored them with a day of activities and a dinner. They got to lead off the race right behind the runners. They were also given bright pink survivor shirts to wear.
It's once again in Little Rock. We raised $1.65 million last year for Breast Cancer awareness!!! 45,000 participants. Three miles of men cheering us on. Kayakers on the Arkansas river that we crossed waving banners, air horns. The police & Fire Depts there at each turn clapping and dancing. A DJ on top of a Fire Truck spinning the hits. A VERY uplifting, bonding experience. Motorcycle Clubs from all over the State lined up revving their engines for the women!! Totally Awesome!!

About Komen: Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Over the past 26 years, we have invested more than $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world. And because millions of people are counting on us to fulfill our promise, we have pledged to invest an additional $2 billion by 2017. Our promise is to end breast cancer forever. Will you join us?
