But don't rule out the "long fingers to the white house", ok?

I already have ruled the "fingers" out, but thanks for the advice.

Could be that Beth was being told Natalee was most likely dead and maybe told of the supposed "confession" made around that time and decided that a death certificate was in order if that's what was really believed by authorities so it could maybe get a ball rolling on a murder trial. Could have everything to do with that and NOTHING to do with money. Again, a very good point is that if a parent is trying to pull a scam, they generally won't ask for the FBI to be involved or have contact with the FBI. They also probably would not have the entire affair plastered on TV every night so that everyone and their dogs are investigating the case on their own. She sure tempted fate a whole lot of a scam was what she was pulling.

Exactly. I would still like to see an official cause of death and know just how that could be determined.

The question of insurance has been answered many times in the past and there just wasn't any per Natalee's parents.

More a reflection of the values and thoughts of some people other than Natalee's parents that this is the only motive they can think of for their wanting to know what happened to their child.

dragonfly, that's what I have thought all along since this was first reported. I tried to get that point across way back when on RWV. You said it much better than I did though, thanks.

Peter R. de Vries.
He has more than one hundred and fifty four homicide investigated. Until now, his business has always had for each other.
There are always (stitching jealous) colleagues who will not hesitate to the TV detective to tackle him .

But. . .but Peter de Vries was a national icon, sure to get to the bottom of all this.

At least that was the storyline before he zeroed in on Joran and Paulus van der Sloot.

Now he is suddenly a goat and all The Netherlands is rallying behind Joran and now suddenly hate Peter de Vries?

I find that very hard to believe. He has always been a controversial figure it would seem from article posted about him here and at other sites.

One fine looking gentleman, I would have to say. Don't shoot the messenger. And yes, this Emmy did bring a great deal of publicity back to Natalee's disappearance if only in this country. Many thought Joran was behind bars long ago. It's good for them to know he is still on "free feet" and "King of the Ocean."

Crime reporter Peter R de Vries has been nominated for an prestigious Emmy award for his covert tv interview with Joran van der Sloot in January this year.

In the tv show, Van der Sloot appeared to admit involvement with the disappearance of US teenager Natalee Holloway on the island of Aruba in 2005.

‘Naturally I realised that the impact of the report would be big, but that it would result in an Emmy nomination is a really nice surprise and a sign of recognition,’ De Vries told news agency ANP.

The winner will be announced in New York on September 22.

I didn't know much about the EMMY's therefore I educated myself on what they are and how those elected are chosen and why. As is typical there are many naysayers who say this "video" was chopped and sliced and they showed statements out of context. Blah, blah, blah. These awards sound to be pretty prestigious and to even be chosen is an honor. It appears the selection process is rather stringent and all video is viewed for integrity and content.

Could winning an EMMY further legitimize this undercover operation and maybe change a few minds? I guess we'll have to wait and see, again.

When resigned changed his mind, did it make Joran guilty of a crime against Natalee? No!

Would an Emmy make Joran guilty? No!

Would not winning an Emmy make Joran innocent? No?
