I enjoy the comments from posters from other countries, and especially appreciate that they are often speaking English as a second or third language.
Here's a joke:
Someone is visiting Harvard University and asks a student, "Excuse me, can you tell me where the Widener Library is at?" The student says, "We here at Haaavaaahd do not end sentences in prepositions." The visitor replies, "I'm sorry. Can you tell me where the Widener Library is at, asshole?"

A Harvard man is eating out at a nice restaurant in New Haven. He exuses himself and goes to use the restroom. In the men's room, he notices a man at the other urinal wearing a Yale jacket. He doesn't say anything until the Yale man finishes his business and starts to leave. The Harvard man can't resist.
"Excuse me, chap, but at Harvard, we wash our hands after urinating." says the Harvard man. The Yalie shoots back, "At Yale, we don't piss on our hands!"

And sarge, as far as I know, this email was sent by Deepak to an (older)american female friend of his, who was/is corresponding with him alot ( a lot, lol), and got to know her because she visited Aruba before this case. IIRC, this woman was a collegue of WonderWoman and that`s why WW got her hands on this email. |
I remember when WonderWoman first posted that on SM. I miss WW. She was one of the first to poke jabs at SM posters who just "knew" that J2K were guilty. And she did it with such humor. I think I remember she made an appearance here briefly in the beginning of this forum. She was very witty! |
Yes I miss her too, it`s been awhile when I saw her last here.

LOLOL, Pax. My mother broke me of even thinking about ending a sentence with at by saying between the A and T everytime I messed up. LOLOL, of course, I passed the same saying on to my own children. They were quite dismayed when they got to college and not one of their friends knew what they were talking about if one of my children said..."between the A and the T". They report back to me that their friends only stared at them with a very blank look.

The petition
http://www.petitiononline.com/holloway/petition.html
This uses "noone".
Sean Maguire wrote the petition, presumably, because he was the first to sign it http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?holloway&1301[/url]

Here is a professional that one would think is noone's fool who was in Aruba and allegedly staying at the Holiday Inn immediately before Natalee went missing, in the interim was with Lilly, and met the Alabama posse.

I use "noone" and I am reasonably educated and my American heritage Dictionary says it is okay but not the preferred (being two words, no one).
However, I think the Deepak Emails are interesting.
IIRC they came to SM from WonderWoman who had a friend, Betty, that knew Deepak. One time after may had left SM and many of us were on CeeTeeVRefuge WW was there and I had noticed that Betty had posted about the letter's of the Darkside of Planet Huff.
Anyway, I have come to the conclusion that the Deepak letter's were fakes not written by Deepak. Am I mssing something that has been confirmed? Have they been addressed by ALE? Anyone

One of my college writing professors refused to let anyone use the expression "a great deal" as in "JVDS was in a great deal of trouble early on in the Natalee Holloway disappearance." After giving it some serious consideration, I began to wonder WTF "a great deal" meant? Never used it in any of my papers.
My current grammatical pet peeve is the overuse of gerunds. "I am wanting to go..." or "I am wanting to do...this or that." "Not loving your birth control?" "I'm loving it!"
I'm convinced that McDonald's is responsible with their "I'm lovin' it" campaign that began a couple of years ago and has continued to the point where everyone is into mis-using gerunds. I am so longing for a gerund-free zone...

My grammar pet peeve is the use of ya'll rather than y'all. Not that big of a deal, but it drives me up the wall.
My habit is starting sentences with dependent clauses. I'm not very good at mixing up my sentences.

I think the most important thing is that we can understand each other no matter "who`s grammar and/or spelling "sucks" or is "impecable" ( Beth`s words lmao) I sure hope it`s not going to keep people away from posting their opinions and theories and whatever they want to post here!
BTW i suck with math, and always hated it ,

I am LOVING this thread. oops..gerund alert. I havent heard the word 'gerund' since 7th or 8th grade. I'm not even sure what it means now--but your meaning was oh-so-clear.
