So very true. At Beth's behest, many people who don't own a Lexus or live in a luxury home in a resort community donated money to Beth's phantom 'foundations'. Beth's filing of the required IRS Forms 990 would help dispel the stench surrounding her various fundraising activities and show the public, as required by law, how their monetary donations were spent. That's just part of the cost of not having to pay taxes on free money. Very Happy

What stench??? A few posters that want to know something they can't find out? lol.

To Iquitos...regarding what the AmSouth trusts could be used for. There were 2 separate ones. One was to be used solely for the search of Natalee. The second was set up to be used for family expenses in searching for Natalee.

I agree with YIF. I would bet there have been enough "tips" to IRS that they have looked into what the trusts were used for. I doubt very seriously if they saw an expense for plastic surgery if they would have just closed their eyes.

So this is kind of funny actually. No one knows for a fact that Beth actually had a facelift. Could have just had botox...could have even had the 1 hour mini facelift. Did anyone ever see Beth wrapped in bandages? I had a friend who had one...she looked like a prize fighter for at least 3 weeks.

People may be curious...ok...be curious. But to assume she took money to do a facelift that she may or may not have had from monies to find Natalee is in my opinion kind of pointless.

As for money she has made giving speeches. I apologize in advance for this question. Has she said the money will be used solely to look for Natalee? She is working. She is traveling. Why shouldn't she draw a salary and at a minimum her travel expenses? If some want to say she's benefiting from Natalee's disappearance...go ahead. I call if moving on with her life and still feeling like she is honoring Natalee by counseling people about facts she wished she had realized before.

As I've said before, and still stand by it today, Natalee's missing is the best thing that ever happened for Miss Reynolds -Holloway-Twitty. In every single way.

I don't buy all the crapola about 'poor Beth'....She definitely had surgery, new teeth, a new house, a nice cheap car, and a lot of income since Natalee has been missing, and she did get away from Jug... Laughing

What mother who's child's been missing puts up more energy in getting her face done than searching actively for her child?.......No 'loving' mother would even think about that superficial shit in such a situation to begin with.

Hannie, it might be bullshit, but I don't think that any of us know exactly how we are going to react in a serious crisis. I never liked her personally, but after several years, I feel that she is the one who lost a child. Yes, she behaved badly, and no one has to like her, but so long as what she has acquired is legal, for me it is non-issue.

You mention that she should have been out searching. Where was she supposed to go? Wasn't there an investigation going on? Do we not know that perhaps there were private investigations? Yes, I know Dave went and searched the landfill. I applaud him for that. I personally could not have done that for two reasons: my gag reflex would have made me puke and my fear that perhaps I would find her, I could not take. Perhaps, I am a coward but I could not have done the landfill.

I also don't think that ALE really wanted them that involved. I don't have a good handle on ALE or its motives. I never thought that they were complicit in any cover up, but over the years, the more inane things that have come out from that office has to make you scratch your head and wonder if there is some other reason for not solving this crime. I still don't think that Joran murdered her or caused her physical harm except that he got rid of her body but I do believe that he knows her fate and that this could all be over and then he could write a real book and make real money.

I wish the mothers of daughters here would be honest and really think about Hannie's post.

Most of my closest friends have daughters Natalee's age and we have discussed this at length. Not one would have done any of these superficial
things as Beth has. Most of them tell me that they would still barely be able to function and the last thing they would be thinking of is their looks, getting rid of a husband, a new house or job, or dating.

Yes I know it is said that people react differently, but come on, all this superficial stuff, just not normal in my opinion. It does not have a ring of truth or honesty to me and some take this a step further and wonder why.

And I'll wager not one of the friends you spoke with ever had their daughter missing...am I right billybob??

I agree with YIF...none of us know the total way we would react if this happened to us. I for instance know for a fact I would have ripped that police station apart if I thought they weren't taking me seriously. And I'll bet if you asked your friends...at least most of them would agree.

Sure Beth could have just accepted what she was being told. Sit around and wait...its a party island...she'll turn up. She believed her daughter wouldn't have done that. Whether I would focus on getting a facelift or not getting one...doesn't mean she, you or anyone else would or wouldn't.

For goodness sake. She didn't get to the island...file a report and go home and get one (if she GOT one). And no one knows if she had already scheduled whatever she had done and paid for it before any of this happened or not.

Bottom line is...it may be mildly interesting to some...but it means nothing in this case in my opinion.

My friends can envision what they would do if their daughter was missing, can they not? Some of my friends have felt the panic of not hearing from these daughters for a day or two, let alone for years.

These are normal mothers that are not thinking in terms of face lifts and wardrobes.

But if YOU and others feel this is normal behavior for Beth, then I guess that says a lot ...

Beth was more busy in the casino's and playing poor me before the cameras. Everything about her is as fake as a $3 bill. There are no excuses in my book and she will never get one from me..ever.

Scam is her middle name...

Rolling Eyes Gossiping is probably an entertaining pastime, but no matter how much cackling is done at the misfortune of others the expression "Don't judge others until you've walked a mile in their shoes" has some serious truth to it. Like it or not.

Don't forget the drinking, lying and fucking Joe Mammana the night before her big boo-hoo Boycott Press Conference. Isn't that what most mothers of 'missing' kids do? Shocked

I have two daughters also and I can envision what I would be like and what I would do, and NO, I don't think I would be getting botox, or buying clothes but that is a personal choice anyway isn't it? Really no one's business at all. This is totally ridiculous.
By all pictures of Beth in Aruba those first months, her dress was rather plain. With the way things were going she knew she'd be in the spotlight for a long time, so what's wrong with enhancing her appearance at any time? It's not a crime.
For Beth she probably really needed to do something to feel better since she was jacked around by angels and this uplift was the only way she could...since she knew Natalee would never be found...that it was too late for that given the 9 day head start for whatever.
I think all those that are so down on Beth should really reflect back to things they have done in their own lives...some have even brought it to the internet.

Were you there? Did you see the actual act?
Well at least, if she did, she knew him before and didn't make an ass of herself chasing an internet personality!

My guess? Years of closet alcohol abuse had led to saggy facial skin and broken blood vessels beneath the surface of the skin. It was pretty obvious. The badly veneered teeth and Jon Benet'/babydoll voice she effected for a while seem to be failed efforts on Beth's part at molding herself into something more telegenic, part of her "It's Showtime!!" fantasy. Thank goodness there are people in the television industry with IQ's greater than Greta Van Susteren that ultimately make those type of hiring decisions. Wink

Get your coven of gossipers together and decide. I just hope you have no difficulties in life.
I simply don't care b/c it doesn't find Natalee! Has absolutely nothing to do with finding Natalee!
