O/T Mary Kay Letourneau's Husband Sentenced In DUI Case
SEATAC, Wash. -- A man who married his former sixth-grade teacher has been sentenced on a drunken driving conviction in Washington state.
Vili Fualaau, 23, was sentenced to one year in jail with all but one day suspended. He also was fined more than $2,000 and placed on probation.
Fualaau and Mary Kay Letourneau met when he was in the second grade. Their relationship became sexual when he was 12 and she was a 34-year-old married mother of four.
Letourneau served more than seven years in prison for child rape. She was released from prison in 2004, and they married in 2005.
They have two children together.

What's next?
Selling the pix to him going in and out of jail. A book about him being in jail for a day. Etc.

Isn't that the truth. I remember when they were going to get married and the media did shows on them. I thought WTH is this about. They even told where they were registered and people actually sent them gifts. Talk about nuts!

They were paid millions by Entertainment Tonight for the rights to cover the wedding.
They posted their wedding registeries and ET took vids of them opening rooms full of presents that strangers had sent them.

Letourneau and former student set wedding date, register for gifts
By Samantha Murphy
Court TV
Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau, her former sixth-grade student and the father of her two children, have set their wedding date for April 16, according to the couple's registry with Bon-Macy's at WeddingChannel.com.
Although Fualaau proposed to his former teacher last year after she was released from her seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence on statutory rape charges, the infamous couple kept their wedding plans quiet — until they filed an online registry.
The wedding registry originally listed more than 30 items, ranging from Villeroy & Boch's "Twist Alea" green and yellow dinner plates, with colorful Spanish tile designs, on sale for $8.99, to a Chrome KitchenAid stand mixer for $249.00.
Within hours of the registry's release, however, most of the items were purchased. Several additional items were apparently added by Tuesday morning. The list now numbers more than 60 items, and includes cookware, bed linens and bath items, including a Hotel by Charter Club queen quilted coverlet for $179.99.
Among the products that have already been purchased are a coffeepot, a pitcher and a rice bowl from Villeroy & Boch, plus the pricey stand mixer.

Drunk driving... what a shame. Not a good thing to be getting these days.. I wonder if he was out with daaa boyz or is drinking alot. Just wondering... Probably isnt my business but makes me wonder if being a parent since 12 or 13 or whatever it was has driven him to drinking? Lol, I know it would me .

I feel for both of them
Whatever my opinions on the rightness/wrongness, the did marry after havng 2 children
I sincerely hope that vilau doesn't feel he needs to have married Mary and the reverse.
This is one of those cases that i think both are the same age mentally. I dont approve, i dont like it, but i pray they overcome their personal demons. If only for the sake of the kids.
re the dui, it doesnt say if he often drinks and drives, or if it was a one off bad luck timiig.
Either way i feel for both

I didnt see it either, about the dwi... I was just thinking out loud.
I personally dont have an opinion on their relationship and finally marriage. I do wonder if it will last. I bet it does. They have been through hell to be together. But I agree they are of the same maturity... I do wish them the best...
( i am glad i am not his mother )

Go to weddingchannel.com; they want Neiman Marcus gift cards and Tiffany china and crystal--the Tiffany is still very available. They did not get all their All-Clad pans or Henckels Pro-S knives, either.

It's a vicious circle. The public wants to know how the "freak" couple is making out and the media will pay the couple to let the hordes know how they're making out.
People we have the choice of turning off the tv!!

Looks like a first offense and at 23 that would be unusual with a chronic drinker unless they had negotiated him out of previous DUIs. He is also not broke.
| Quote: | (a) In the case of a person whose alcohol concentration was less than 0.15, or for whom for reasons other than the person's refusal to take a test offered pursuant to RCW 46.20.308 there is no test result indicating the person's alcohol concentration:
(i) By imprisonment for not less than one day nor more than one year. Twenty-four consecutive hours of the imprisonment may not be suspended or deferred unless the court finds that the imposition of this mandatory minimum sentence would impose a substantial risk to the offender's physical or mental well-being. Whenever the mandatory minimum sentence is suspended or deferred, the court shall state in writing the reason for granting the suspension or deferral and the facts upon which the suspension or deferral is based. In lieu of the mandatory minimum term of imprisonment required under this subsection (1)(a)(i), the court may order not less than fifteen days of electronic home monitoring. The offender shall pay the cost of electronic home monitoring. The county or municipality in which the penalty is being imposed shall determine the cost. The court may also require the offender's electronic home monitoring device to include an alcohol detection breathalyzer, and the court may restrict the amount of alcohol the offender may consume during the time the offender is on electronic home monitoring; and
(ii) By a fine of not less than three hundred fifty dollars nor more than five thousand dollars. Three hundred fifty dollars of the fine may not be suspended or deferred unless the court finds the offender to be indigent; | (Emphasis added)
