Well bottom line, guys: the pie turned out AWESOME!
It had a fabulous "bite" to it......just exactly like I have eaten in some restaurants that brag about their Key Lime Pie. It was just absolutely excellent. I was real proud!

Congratulations! So glad it turned out well after all that trouble you went to making it.
(You can just fedex my slice to me; please get it here in time for dessert tonight!)

Honestly, I could trade you a couple of slices for some of the stuff YOU have described on here.

Thanks Sandra. Have you used the bottled juice? I was wondering if it tastes as good as the fresh, or even almost? If you say yes, I'm ordering some.
And SS, so glad your pie was delicious. My mouth is watering.

My understanding is that the key limes are a bit more sweet than regular limes that is why they make sure a good pie!! I had my first key lime pie when I was in Key West (for the first time too) in February and I am hooked but the only I would be able to make one is buy key lime juice as I would not trust a key lime that had to be shipped to New England!!

I forgot to post before this that after squeezing all those little devils, I saved a bunch of the seeds. There is about 20 seeds in EACH tiny lime!!!!!!!! I dried them out for a few days, and planted a couple of them in a small pot. We'll see what happens. I think I am too far north of the Keys (Tampa Bay area) to grow a tree, but it might make a nice little houseplant for a while....IF they sprout!

^ That's cool. Let us know how that plant goes. If it goes well maybe it can be the refugees unleashed house plant.
Put the lime in the coconut and shake em both together
Put the lime in the coconut and then you'll feel better
I love that song.

I have a key lime in my yard but it is too dry here in San Diego so the fruit drops before it can ripen right.
