Is THIS low-mod board for you?

This is a low-mod board.
The particular rules and running practices here are unique to this board.
We have it all here: The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Sometimes people will be vicious to you.
This is one of the risks you take by posting here.
You will read things that offend you.
You will have things said to you that you don't like.
You will be called names that you don't like.
You will have people interpret your posts erroneously.

When you fling shit, it will be tossed back to you.
When you make people hostile towards you, you will get hostile responses.
You have to be a friend, to have a friend.
You have to be fair to be treated fairly.
If you share something personal, realize that people may use it against you.
Realize that peoples' responses to you have causes.
And more often than not, it's 'cause you act like an asshole, that people act like assholes back to you.
If you have no sense of humor, you will have no fun.
And if you have a warped sense of humor, you will have a ball. Laughing

Being successful and happy here is about taking personal responsibility.
No matter what someone says to you, your response is still your choice, and your responsibility.
You will be known by your OWN words.
The measure of grace you extend to others, will reflect the measure that is extended to you.
Taking responsibility means dealing with the repercussions of what you have said on this board, Past, Present and Future.
However, if you constantly harp on what someone has said in the past, expect that other people will grow weary with you.
Personal responsibility does not mean that you mind everyone else's business or become a hall monitor.
Personal responsibility means you mind what YOU say.

You get what you give, and you should be prepared to take it just as easily as you dish it out!
If you like the freedom to say almost anything, then respect that goes for others, also.
This is a low-mod board.
You have to be responsible for yourself.
And remember, it ain't all about you.

This is not the thread dungeon or the Refugee board Hall of Shame! This is just a forum for debates, arguments and any discussions that are controversial, heated and/or veer way off topic from the originating forum or about conflicts on other boards. Feel free to start threads here.

Sometimes threads will be moved here after the topic cools down and sometimes the thread might be moved here while it is very hot. There is no requirement for a moderator to move a topic here and no one should be upset or insulted if his or her topic is moved here-- this forum is not a punishment. It's just another forum.

Even though this forum is for heated exchanges, if posts become extremely abusive, obscene, spamming, or threatening, it could result in account deactivation with or without prior warning, at our discretion. That will depend on the extremity of the case. We will be very lenient, but there are legal limits so please respect that.

another reminder:

We aren't able to offer an ignore feature, but this is a great post from Amyne with info that could work anyone who really wants to "ignore" someone.

Sorry, I know I'm bumping a dead topic but I wanted to share something. There is a Firefox script (a script is a bit of code that allows you to change the look or behavior of a website) called "phpBB User Hide" which, as the title implies, hides a user on a phpBB forum. It shows their user name, but not the actual post. It even hides their posts when the person is quoted. It has a toggle option which allows you to view a particular post or quote without unhiding the person. For Firefox (sorry IE users). I know this doesn't apply to the majority of users here, but I'm sure someone is interested.

To use the script, you need Greasemonkey (here), which installs and manages scripts. After you have installed Greasemonkey the script is here (right-click the link and choose Install This User Script). That's it!

You'll know it worked if you see [x] next to all the user nics. Click the [x] to hide or unhide someone.

Just wanted to share. Carry on.

Due to the large percentage of those who voted to have HE "burn", we've decided to help those who don't want to visit the HE:
The Heated Exchange forum will be going "voluntary access only." By Saturday the Heated Exchange forum will only be open to those who have joined the Heated Exchange Access Group.

Until Monday you can add yourselves, and after that you will have to request access. Anyone who joins the access group can be removed from access at any time, either by staff or by the joinee.

Now, no one can say they didn't ask to be here!

BTFU!!

Go here to add yourself to the HE Access Group. wave
