Fried Turkey, Orkra, gizzard stuffing, cream corn, mashed potatoes & gravy, cranberry jelly, 7-up salad and minced meat pie in Mountain Brook sounds like a treat?

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday meal, especially the dressing and turkey sandwiches. Since you can only get full once, I even make a sandwich for the main course, so I'll be sure and get my sandwich fix. We're going to cook a big turkey and invite everyone we know who won't be with family this year. I hope everyone at Refugees has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Likewise, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays too. Traditionally, my family always gets together for a huge eating feast! Most of the time, Thanksgiving meal is held at my mom's, with everyone bringing their favorite "minor" dishes. Mama usually cooks the main stuff. This year, however, we just buried her husband of 25 years 2 weeks ago (from cancer), so the family is still a little "low" from that.
However, just last night, we decided to carry on the tradition. Only this time, it's going to be over my daughter's and *I* will be doing the main cooking! That means I get to prepare the turkey, dressing, greens, roast beef, mac and cheese and potato salad. Everyone else will bring all types of other stuff, (the ribs, string-beans, desserts, ham, etc.)
Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude in my family, where we are thankful for one another and the blessings that have happened in our family over the year. We also pour libations for those no longer with us. I LOVE Thanksgiving.

To live vicarously through my American friends here at RU is my plan. I can smell the scent of Turkey wafting across the lake and my stomach is growling.

Prayer of Thanksgiving
Dear God, please give me
A few friends who know me and love me still,
A thankful heart to give you praise always
and in everything,
A trusting mind to keep on believing in you
no matter what the future brings,
A humble, pleasing personality,
A teachable disposition,
A thoughtful, kind, and caring touch,
A forgiving and understanding spirit,
A loving and accepting attitude to communicate your love to every life I touch,
A worthwhile work into which I can put my
best efforts and thereby help make my
world a better place in which to live, and
A life that will make a difference not only in
my world, but also in my street, and most
of all—in my home.

I am going home for thanksgiving for the first time in 3 yrs. Im looking forward to it. Itll be an eight hour drive to my parents home, but the first time my hubby has been there, along with my daughter and we will also be bringing my mom and dads first great grandson as well.
We plan to make two turkeys, a ham, and play with the kids while drinking a few beers. Nothing fancy but Im looking forward to it

We have Thanksgiving at my house. I fix the Turkey, dressing, Sweet Potato crunch, mashed potatos, cranberry salad, banana pudding and pumpkin pie. My sister in laws and nieces bring the deviled eggs, casseroles and other stuff. My oldest brothers wife brings corn, green beans and collards all grown in my brothers garden.
There will be about 18 adults and 4 kids, but I have mine for dinner so everybody else can go to their in-laws for lunch. I got tired of competeing a long time ago.
I love Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the two times a year that we all get together at one time even though we're all local and less than 30 miles from each other.
Hoping everyone has a safe and nice Thanksgiving. Don't forget to give thanks for the things we are blessed with each day and say a little prayer for those less fortunate than others.
