What are you cooking today, for luck in 2007
My mom always did a pork roast with sauerkraut, so that's what I always do, having my son and his girlfriend over for dinner.
Desert...Peanut Butter Fingers
2 cups of flour
2 cups of oats one minute or traditional
2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of vanilla
1 tsp of baking soda
2 eggs
1 cup of shortening
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of peanut butter
mix vanilla, baking soda, eggs, shortening and both sugars and peanut butter, add in the flour and oats, mix and spead in a 10x12 pan bake at 350 for about 20 minutes, check for golden brown color.
After that is out of the oven add a bag of semisweet chocolate chips and they will melt on top, spread out with a spoon.
In a sause pan use 3 tablespoons of butter, 1 to 2 cups of powder sugar and 1/2 cup or more of peanut butter and 2 to 4 tablespoons of sweetened milk, almost fudgy consistency, add that to the top of the chocolate. They are one of my favorite bar cookies.

For luck the tradition is supposed to be black-eyed peas and greens...
my family always had corned beef and cabbage tho. Apparently my family's farmer heritage was one that the greens were used for feed to the livestock and the roots and other veggies were consumed by them or sold.
Even tho I wasn't raised with the traditional "Southern" food I did fix ham, turnip greens and blackeyed peas for NY Day dinner. I failed to make any cornbread tho to sop up the pot likker, I just served wheat rolls, lol.
Also, one is supposed to have a dark haired man be the first guest to enter your house on the New Year...there are lots of superstitions or good luck rituals surrounding New Year's Eve and Day.
Your recipe sounds delish!
