Favorite Holiday Movies
I really get upset in years they don't show Miracle on 34th street. I have watched it since I was a child, and still believe Kris is the real Santa Claus
Its my all time favorite.

ohhhh There are soooo many good ones.
1) It's A Wonderful Life
2) Miracle on 34th Street (original version)
and no holiday season would be complete without A Christmas Story. It isn't Christmas till Ralphy makes his appearance on my tv screen.

It's A Wonderful Life
A Christmas Carol (George C Scott version)
Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer and A Charlie Brown Christmas for the kid in me.
And for my kids:
A Dora the Explorer Christmas (Dora takes a train to deliver a present to Santa at the North Pole- it's a guitar, and in the end they sing Feliz Navidad- the voice of Santa is played by one of the Backstreet Boys ) -- this is cute, even I like to watch it, now and then.
The Wiggles - Wiggly Wiggly Christmas ....I know ::cringe:::, but actually this is not a bad video and my toddler loves to dance to it.
And I guess most any Christmas episode featuring Spongebob Squarepants, and other favorite characters. Mickey Mouses's Christmas Carol...Barney's Night Before Christmas (another cringe!)....but kiddies love it. Won't watch a minute of Charlie Brown but will watch hours of the Wiggles one.

I agree Christmas Vacation w/Chevy Chase. Also The Christmas Story.
And......Home Alone. I seem to never get tired of that one.

A Christmas Story is one of my all time best movies, my son actually did the tongue on the frozen poll, and we laughed so hard, my son does get the last laugh on me, I was laughing so hard and so much I peed my pants, he always finishes the story with that info.

Every year during this time, they ALWAYS play Imitation of Life. That remains one of my favorites. I don't know why the association with the holidays. It's just that they play it every single year, since I have been a kid, right around Christmas time.
I STILL watch it, and I STILL cry on cue at the funeral ... every time!
The other thing is that the song that Mahalia Jackson sings, "Soon I Will be Done" is the song that I am MOST requested to sing at funerals.

LF, do you mean "It's a Wonderful Life" instead of "Imitation of Life"?

As a child, every year, when White Christmas (Bing Cosby/Danny Kaye) would come on TV, my father and I would watch it. My father passed away on Oct 2, 1996. Every year since then, on December 1st, I play the movie and do a toast to my father.

It has been a treat to read the Christmas threads today. Haven't been around here much, but wanted to send greetings to all Refs for merry days ahead and health and happiness in the New Year.
Now, back on topic, my favorite holiday movie is The Bishop's Wife.

You need to get it on dvd, VC. That is definitely one of the sweetest Christmas movies. My daughter and I love it, along with "Scrooge" (Alistair Sim), and "The Christmas Carol" (George C. Scott).

He isn't?
As far as getting it on DVD, my sister used to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" as often as she could during the holiday season (a lot!) Then Ted Turner bought the rights and it's only on rarely, so she bought the DVD; she doesn't watch it! She only turns it on when it's on TV.
