From the Public Prosecutors Office
Date November 23, 2007

Judge will hear K.-brothers on prolongation custody in Holloway-case

∑ J. v.d. S. on his way to Aruba

Today between 01.00 and 03.00 p.m. the brothers D.S.K. en S.S.K. will be heard by the judge of instruction on the Public Prosecutorss decision to prolonge their custody for another eight days.
This hearing will not be conducted in the Aruba Court House but elsewhere. It is a hearing behind closed doors. No information will be given about the exact location of the hearings. Later this afternoon the judges decision will be published through a press release.

Late yesterday afternoon the third suspect, J.v.d. S., was led before a judge of instruction in Arnhem, The Netherlands, where he was arrested. That judge did not see any irregularity in his arrest. Afterwards V.d. S. was taken to a place of detention awaiting his transfer to Aruba. His arrival on Aruba is expected today and he will be instantly detained.
Monday November 26, V.d. S. will be heard on the judges order to detain him for a period of eight days. His defense lawyer will accompany V.d. S. in this hearing, which is a closed court session. There is a chance that at the same time the Public Prosecutor will ask for the prolongation of the detention for another eight days, since the first term will end by Wednesday.

For more information, you can call: (00 297) 592 8481 (between 08.00 a.m. and 06.00 p.m.; during the weekend between 09.00 and 11.00 a.m.)

It would be good if DSK and SSK were to be cleared. This wasy they can get thier files and still sue Dr Phil. At the same time JVDS has to spend the weekend in jail. They say on Monday that he will stand trial along with his father. No that would be something.

Justice is supposed to be blind for these kind of things allX. We live in an age of rule of law, prosecution is between the crown/state and the suspect, victims and the holidays her fellow countrymen celebrate have nothing to do with it.

As well they should. But I must disagree with (I think it is Julia, but can't swear to it) that pros don't have to present any evidence. They will have to show something for both K2 and Joran as both attys for defense will vigorously argue against this detainment. Since they were not released as suspects their period is still tolling and the burden on pros is still higher than the initial arrest and they get the 8 days virtually on looks alone.

Yes, Mos (fiscaal) just said that must keep in mind that these suspects are innocent until it is proven otherwise and to keep them from being labeled as that and prevent any misjudgements, the cases will be heard in different locations on the island and on monday. They have not been charged with anything.

It was impossible to get a judge from Curacao in Aruba on the weekend, reason why Joran's case will be heard on Monday.

As you and I inquired about the same thing, and "it" has not replied to either of us. We can come to the conclusion that "they" came from the place where they have long tails.

And that important point just seems to escape so many people in our media.

From what I understand Joran is arriving late tonight and no judge will be there Saturday, the Kalpoes still have their hearing today.

It sure does and another point that the media keeps harping on is that Dave is going to Aruba with Timmy because of the re-arrest. They failed to mention that this trip has been in the planning for a long time... Rolling Eyes

They haven't even been charged!!!!

It is stupid Americans that are making this HUGE leap that questioning =guilty. These same stupid Americans are overlooking their own presumption of innocence afforded ALL defendants in their own judicial system. Evil or Very Mad

Where in the US prosecution gets limited time to lock someone up without charges the prosecution in the Netherlands gets a lot more, there is one catch though, there is judicial oversight at set points during the detention. So, the judge is not there in the capacity of a trial judge, deciding about guilty or not guilty, but to check wether the prosecution stays withing the limits of reasonablity, fairness and the law.

ok, So J2K have once again been detained for additional questioning. Why is this a surprise? The clock was running out, IIRC.

Just a few days ago the prosecution stated they wished they had more time but would abide by the courts Dec 31st deadline.

IMO, it is time for the prosecution to either shit or get off the pot. If they have evidence that J2K were involved in a crime against Natalee...bring charges and take it to court. If they don't, then quit with the grasping at straws.

A police van believed to be transporting Joran van der Sloot arrives at the court house, in Arnhem, east central Netherlands, Thursday Nov. 22, 2007. A Dutch judge on Thursday approved the transfer to Aruba of a student suspected in the 2005 disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean resort island, a prosecutor said. Joran van der Sloot, 20, was arrested Wednesday in the central city of Arnhem on suspicion of involvement in voluntary manslaughter and causing serious bodily harm that resulted in Holloway's death.
