No new news yet today.

I'm impressed how Kerstin's recovery was kept so confidentially until she was finally released from the hospital even with the British paps nosing around.

Since Josef Fritzl is the Supreme Narcissist, if he has access to newspapers or TV, I think that he will have to draw some attention to himself soon. How about:
"I first brought her that Robbie Williams tape. You (and Kerstin) should be thanking me."

in total agreement. He will think that

I am in awe of the strength of the Fritzl families women

That Elizabeth is willing to testify even though docs had said no to police, and that Rosemary not only went back to the house, but for the first time saw that evil bunker where her daughter was raped, and kept captive let alone her grandkids kept captive.

To me..that is strength. Getting things that felix wanted, and some dresses for kerstin. god knows they would have found others for her, but i think anyone wants something of theirs to cling to, be it a dress or a toy.

Stefan worries me the most, it doesn't sound as if he is adjusting well and juist that he didnt ask for anything..i think he is so conflicted, and the relationship with a dad is different. He was stefans role model, and at his age (unlike felix) it was a role model but in captivity until adulthood. The rage he must feel, and the anger, and yet also love and respect that he was taught was a given towards his father. Don't forget, stefan may not even have realized he was living differently OR more likely, he was told that the reason for the imprisonment was due to the bad elizabeth who went out to bars etc. Elizabeth and Kerstin would have had that bond between women that is very different. IF kerstin was raped as well, that would be further "proof" for stefan that the women were to blame, while still hating his dad.

I pray he recovers physically and emotionally.

I know. Just thinking that in his generation many kids were taken to prostitutes or "kindly mistresses" to learn when they reached 16 etc. Its not like he could take stefan out, and since he sets such store by his sexuality it does not seem beyond the realm of possiblity that he would want his son to learn from him

Only on one site so far:
Elisabeth Fritzl's evidence delayed because doctors say she's not ready to face her captor
By Hannah Wood
Mirror.co.uk
23/06/2008

Vital evidence set to be given by Elisabeth Fritzl against her monster father has been delayed because doctors say she's not yet ready to come face-to-face with her captor.

Brave Elisabeth had insisted on bringing forward her testimony to ensure Josef Fritzl's trial can take place as soon as possible, but doctors have told police she isn't up to it yet.

Elisabeth, 42, will give a statement about her horrific 24 years of rape and imprisonment at the hands of Josef Fritzl, 73, via video links.

She will be able to see her rapist father in his prison cell on a TV screen and he can make comments about her statements.

The video testimony will then be used at trial and means Elisabeth avoids the trauma of giving live evidence at court.

The questioning of Elisabeth and her mother Rosemarie has instead been rescheduled for the end of July - three weeks later than originally planned.

Officials hope to get Josef Fritzl in the dock before the start of next year.

A hospital insider told Austrian media: "She (Elisabeth) was determined to make sure he did not escape on a technicality or get freed on bail if the proceedings were to drag on too long. When she found out that the trial could not go ahead without her statement she insisted on it being done as soon as possible."

Doctors will be on hand at all times to ensure she does not suffer a breakdown as she relives her years of torment for the record.

Prosecutors have said it is the evidence of Elisabeth and her mother that is most crucial to their case.

The children who were also held captive in the dungeon will be quizzed at a later date.

It's like two steps forward and then one step back.
There was good news in the article from Sunday, though (and maybe Stefan will turn out to be a computer whiz):
Quote:
Doctors are keen to establish a strong family routine and have given them a bungalow in the grounds of the Amstetten-Mauer clinic.

Each morning mum Elisabeth - raped and imprisoned by her father for 24 years - makes breakfast while her mother Rosemarie plays with the children, including games of Chinese chequers with Felix, six.

The older Fritzl children are having school classes to prepare them for exams before the summer holidays start, including Stefan who was described as surprisingly advanced given the circumstances. They are training with female private teachers. But in the afternoons, they enjoy their free-time.

The family is also being visited by relatives, most often Elisabeth's sisters. One relative said: "She has children of the same age. They then play for hours and turn the whole clinic into a madhouse."

Elisabeth's oldest son Stefan, 18, spends a lot of time playing computer games as he is fascinated by everything to do with new technology and computers in particular.

From a tabloid so take it for what it's worth:
BEST CELLAR
EXCLUSIVE Beast Fritzl is writing memoirs

Sundaymirror.uk
By Sarah Arnold And Allan Hall 6/07/2008

Dungeon rape monster Josef Fritzl is writing memoirs in prison - to his daughter's horror.

The 74-year-old is planning to sell the story of his 24-year torture of his child Elisabeth to the highest bidder.

He spends hours locked up writing as fellow prisoners bang on the walls at night and shout "Come on out Satan - we want to play". Elisabeth, 42, who endured countless rapes, giving birth to seven children, is horrified at the thought of the world reliving her ordeal through Fritzl's words.

A source said: "She is appalled.

It is like being violated all over again. He is a monster trying to present a human face, but it will be at a cost to her fragile psyche. He knows his story is worth a lot because Elisabeth has made it clear she does not want to sell hers."

Elisabeth was drugged and dragged into Fritzl's secret cellar in 1984, when she was 18.

She finally escaped in April when her first-born Kerstin, 19, was allowed to go to hospital as she hovered close to death.

Prosecutors are investigating Fritzl for coercion, rape, incest and the death of a baby.

He has not been charged but police say he admits incarceration and incest by raping Elisabeth.

Another tabloid:

Fritzl bids to sell his sick story
By LYNSEY HAYWOOD
sun.co.uk
Published: Today

DUNGEON monster Josef Fritzl plans to cash in on his sick 24-year torture of daughter Elisabeth by selling his story to the highest bidder.

Elisabeth – who endured countless rapes while locked in the family cellar – is reported to be horrified.

Her lawyer Eva Plaz said: “It has been bad enough with all the leaks from doctors and police sources about Elisabeth.

“But that her father, who caused all her suffering, means to cash in on her ordeal is sickening.”

Troubled Elisabeth, 42 – thought to be recovering at the Mauer psychiatric clinic in Amstetten, Austria – wants to live the remainder of her days in privacy.

A source close to her said: “She is appalled. It is like being violated all over again.

"He is a monster trying to present a human face, but it will be at the cost to her fragile psyche.

"He knows that his story is worth a lot because Elisabeth has made it clear that she does not want to sell her story."

Elisabeth's second lawyer Christoph Herbst has said Elisabeth and her family want new identities and to live new lives anonymously, rather than in the media spotlight like previous cellar victim Natascha Kampusch.

Molested by Fritzl since she was just 11, Elisabeth was drugged and dragged into her dad's secret cellar when she was 18 to begin her frightening ordeal that would last a staggering 8,516 days.

She was raped constantly and forced to give birth alone to his children in the dark and gloomy cellar.

Six children survived - one died three days after he was born and was incinerated by her father in the central heating system furnace of the house in Amstetten, Austria.

Three of the children were taken by her father over the years to be brought up with his wife Rosemarie in the apartments built above the secret cellar. Three more lived their entire lives underground.

The sick story ended in April this year when Kerstin, 19, Elisabeth's firstborn, hovered close to death and Fritzl allowed her to go to hospital.

When he relented and allowed Elisabeth to see her, she was arrested by police who believed her father's far-fetched tale that she had run off to live with a secret sect.

Once in the safety of the police station Elisabeth blurted out the horror of what she had endured, her two remaining children were freed and Fritzl arrested.

Ms Plaz also said not enough had been done to protect Elisabeth.

She said that although private security had been organised they only had one police guard at the hospital who was called off during the Euro 2008 football championships due to a shortage of officers.

Evil Josef is having a hard time in prison and although he has property he has little ready cash that as a remand prisoner he could use to give him an easier life.

At the moment like other child abusers he remains locked in his cell afraid to leave because of death threats and violence against him.

Fellow convicts bang on the cell walls at night and shout: "Come on out Satan - we want to play."

From a tabloid--and totally unimportant in the grand scheme of things except as to the extreme narcissism of this man:

Josef Fritzl asks prison doctor for anti-ageing face cream
By Mark Ellis, Foreign Editor
mirror.co.uk
15/07/2008

Cellar monster Josef Fritzl has asked his prison doctor for a supply of anti-ageing face cream.

The 73-year-old, who locked his daughter Elisabeth underground for 24 years and fathered seven children by her, has also been complaining about a variety of problems, ranging from chest pains to stomach ache.

Prison officials said yesterday he avidly followed TV and press reports about his case. Jail spokesman Erich Huber-Guensthofer said: "To be honest, other than the trips to the doctor and the request for face creams, Fritzl doesn't give us any trouble.

"You would hardly know that he was there.

"He has never complained about the food. If the weather is really nice, he takes a short walk in the prison courtyard."

He confirmed that Fritzl had the TV running in his cell all the time and hardly ever missed a report about himself.

When there was nothing on TV he was reading old newspaper reports about himself and his crimes.

The details of his prison life emerged as daughter Elisabeth, 42, began giving detailed evidence to prosecutors about how her father locked her up and raped her in the dungeon he made in Amstetten in Austria.

She has told how he left her alone for three days after she gave birth to twins.

Austria abuzz with reports Fritzl victims may have fled to Alpine hideaway
canadianpress.google.com

VIENNA, Austria — Have Josef Fritzl's alleged incest dungeon victims given paparazzi the slip?

Authorities won't say, but Austria was abuzz Wednesday with reports that the daughter Fritzl imprisoned for 24 years and their six surviving offspring have moved to a secret location deep in the Alps where they can continue their recovery.

Security has eased up outside the psychiatric clinic near Amstetten, west of Vienna, where Elisabeth Fritzl, her children and Fritzl's wife have been getting treatment and counselling since those held captive gained their freedom in April.

The daily Oesterreich claimed the family has sought refuge somewhere in the Alps - possibly in the Salzkammergut, a popular resort area outside Salzburg nestled in mountains studded with pristine lakes and unspoiled forests.

The region, named for its former imperial salt mines dating to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, offers plenty of crisp fresh air and recuperative mineral baths "for those dungeon victims whose respiratory systems were injured," it said.

Christoph Herbst, a lawyer representing the victims, was not immediately available for comment Wednesday.

But the speculation touched off a flurry of calls to radio talk shows and some indignation in the blogosphere, where there were dozens of pleas to paparazzi to respect the victims' privacy.

Fritzl, 73, is expected to go on trial before the end of the year. He is being held in St. Poelten, west of Vienna, pending formal charges.

Paparazzi have laid siege to the Amstetten-Mauer clinic over the past three months, sometimes using disguises in a so-far-unsuccessful attempt to get photos of the victims.

Police with attack dogs reinforced security at the entrance to the sprawling clinic grounds after one photographer tried to scale a hospital wall.

Austrian media have published unconfirmed reports of other incidents involving photographers who purportedly dressed up as police officers, climbed trees and pretended to be bird-watchers.

One allegedly even tried to hide beneath a large chunk of the clinic lawn as part of the mad scramble to get the first victim photo. The potential payout? Up to $1 million, the Niederoesterreichische Nachrichten newspaper said.

Judicial officials say the victims' identities almost certainly will be changed to help protect their privacy.

Investigators say Fritzl confessed to taking Elisabeth prisoner shortly after she turned 18, sexually abusing her and fathering seven children with her, including one whose body he allegedly tossed into a furnace after it died in infancy. They say subsequent DNA tests confirmed he is the surviving children's biological father.

Divorce rumor ?
...

Rosemarie visited the "horror house" for the last time to say good-bye to her former home. She acted like petrified, only nodded to her neighbors, saying "I am just fine". A protection statement, it couldn't get worse for the broken woman. She left the clinic after tensions between her and her daughter and lives now in a hired house in Linz.
Next blow: police found a diary, from which it appears that Josef Fritzl probably also raped his wife's sister.

Now Rosemarie is considering a divorce after the trial against her husband. As a first step she wants to take her maiden name again.

Josef Fritzl may have attacked wife's sister
the age.au
Allan Hall, Berlin
July 30, 2008
AUSTRIAN incest father Josef Fritzl may have raped the sister of his long-suffering wife Rosemarie, it emerged yesterday.

Police examining papers and diaries found at the home where he built a secret cellar to incarcerate and abuse his daughter Elizabeth — who bore him seven children — indicate that he attacked his sister-in-law.

Media reports say the diary entry is being examined by police.

News of the find came on the same day that it was learned Rosemarie is seeking to divorce her husband after 52 years of marriage.

Austrian media say Rosemarie, 69, will divorce Josef, 74, after he stands trial in the northern autumn for the ordeal to which he subjected their daughter. Fritzl, 74, locked up Elisabeth in a secret cellar beneath his home in Amstetten, near Linz, 24 years ago and subjected her to brutal rapes throughout her incarceration.

She bore him seven children in his dungeon. She was freed in April this year when her first-born daughter Kerstin, 19, hovered near death after falling ill in the cellar.

Rosemarie and Josef Fritzl brought up three of the cellar children in their home. He concocted an elaborate story that his daughter had run away to join a sect and claimed the children were left on his doorstep because Elisabeth, now 42, could not cope with bringing them up.

Rosemarie joined Elisabeth and her children in a psychiatric clinic after her husband was arrested, but a rift has since opened up with her daughter.

Elisabeth is angry that the three children Rosemarie brought up call her mother instead of grandmother.

She is also having trouble accepting that her mother did not know that she was being abused when she was an 11-year-old schoolgirl or that she did not try to do more to find her when Fritzl said she had run away as a teenager.

Consequently, Rosemarie has moved out of the clinic and is living alone in a rented flat in Linz. She cannot bring herself to live in the house again.

Austrian incest father Josef Fritzl may be charged with slavery
(Reuters)
From Times Online August 3, 2008

Josef Fritzl has admitted imprisoning his daughter Elisabeth in a basement and fathering seven children by her, but may serve only ten years in prison

Austrian prosecutors are debating whether to charge incest offender Josef Fritzl with slavery, in a last ditch attempt to maximise the time he serves in jail, according to press reports.

Mr Fritzl, 73 a retired engineer, has admitted to imprisoning his daughter Elisabeth for 24 years in a purpose-build concrete dungeon beneath his home in the town of Amstetten, where she was forced to give birth to seven of his children. Three of the children were selected to live with him and his wife Rosemarie, 68, in their upstairs apartment, while the other three and their mother were never allowed to leave the damp concrete bunker until they were rescued by police on April 26. One of the children, a baby boy called Michael, died shortly after birth and Mr Fritzl burned his body in an incinerator.

But despite his partial confession, it was revealed last month that Mr Fritzl could only be facing ten years in prison because Austrian law, unlike British law, does not allow for multiple convictions, and because the only charge certain to be proved in court was that of incarceration.

The prosecutors’ case was additionally weakened after it emerged that the children who spent their entire lives in the cellar prison could refuse to testify against their father.

Desperate to make sure that one the highest profile criminal cases in their country's legal history ends with an appropriate prison sentence, Austrian prosecutors are now considering whether they can charge Mr Fritzl with slavery, under Paragraph 104 of the Austrian Penal Code - a crime originally deriving from the country’s 19th century law, that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

A number of prominent legal experts are said to have been tasked by prosecutors in utmost discretion to try to find a solution that would ensure a lengthier prison sentence for Mr Fritzl. It was a distinguished university professor of criminal law, who has not been named, who suggested the slavery charges, according to press reports.

Judge Kurt Leitzenberger, head of the St Pölten Regional Court where Mr Fritzl will stand trial, told The Times: “The case is singular in the country’s history and there is no legal precedent to draw experience from. Compiling the charges against the suspect is a delicate procedure for a number of reasons and prosecutors are carefully examining all possibilities.”

Gerhard Sedlacek, the Austrian prosecutors’ spokesman, said: “The content of the charges is has not yet been determined. It is expected that the charges will be completed by the end of September and the date for the trial could be set sometime in December.”

In a separate development, experts hired by the court determined this week that there were no additional hidden rooms in the dungeon and that Mr Fritzl was fully capable of building and furnishing it himself and without the aid others.

Mr Fritzl is facing a string of charges including rape, incarceration, incest and coercion, as well as manslaughter for the baby that died. But prosecutors fear that the manslaughter changes could be “extremely difficult” to prove because so much time had elapsed since the death of the newborn in 1996. There is a similar problem with the rape chares, for which there is lack of forensic evidence.

The only serious crime that Mr Fritzl is certain to be convicted for is incarceration, which carries a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.

ROMANCE FOR DUNGEON GIRL
10th August 2008
By Clive Goodman
_______________________________________
Incest rape victim Elisabeth Fritzl has been on romantic walks with a dark-haired man as she recovers from her ordeal.

Elisabeth, who spent 24 years in a cellar dungeon built by her evil father Josef, has been seen with the pony-tailed hunk several times.

The pair were spotted at the remote villa she moved into in the grounds of the Austrian clinic where she is still undergoing counselling.

“They spend a lot of time talking together,” revealed one source.

And the secret walks have sparked talk that shattered Elisabeth may be taking her first steps on the road to romance.

“He doesn’t seem to be a doctor as they meet patients inside the hospital.

“And he doesn’t dress like a doctor. He looks more like a heavy metal fan,” said a clinic source. Elisabeth, now 42, suffered years of rape by her father in the secret dungeon at their home in Amstetten.

She gave birth to seven of his children.

One was so ill it died shortly after birth and Fritzl threw its body in an incinerator.

To cover up his evil crimes he claimed his daughter had run away from home to join a cult.

Elisabeth and her six surviving children moved into their hideaway home last month as she prepares for her father’s trial, which is due to begin next month.

He faces multiple rape and false imprisonment charges.

“Elisabeth has never had a normal relationship so she finds it very hard to trust anyone at all, especially men,” said one family source.

“The people who should have loved her most either abused her or let her down. If anyone deserves some happiness, it’s her.”

Witnesses say Elisabeth’s new friend is 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, and in his mid to late 30s with long, dark hair.
