Private messages

Twice in the last 2 weeks and one was yesterday, I was notified that I have a private message. When I go to my inbox, there is no message Question Question

That happens to me on rare occasions.....once several days ago. I chalked it up to maybe someone sent me a PM then decided against it, and deleted it from their outbox???? I dunno. Maybe Kay will weigh in. Anyway, I know what you're talking about.

Is there a moderator or admin available? I sent a pm and it seems to have disappeared....any idea why?

Did you look in your out box? That is where it would be (instead of the Sent box) if it hasn't been opened by recipient yet.

Sorry for the delay responding, Ref AC's question I already answered her in a PM, but if there are others wondering here is my answer ref missing PMs
Quote:

If communication is uinterrupted between your conmputer and our host's web serrver just has you click submit a message can be 'lost'. Also due to ISP caching sometimes a PM can dissapear and reappear 6 or 12 hours later.

As to the question in regards to being notified you have a PM and there is none there. The most common reason is that the sender changed their mind and deleted it from their outbox. to Expand a bit when you send a PM there is a link to the PM in the persons outbox as well as in your inbox. Once you have read it the link is moved from the persons outbox to their sent mail. The sender can delete the PM as long as it is still in the OutBox.

The other thing that can happen if your ISP uses a caching proxy server (Like AOL as one example) sometimes if you check your inbox, then 20 minutes later receive a notification that you have a PM and you go to check your inbiox, AOL will resend you the original webview from their proxy with out refreshing it. Often if you do Ctrl-F5 your web browser will succeed in forcing the remote proxy to refresh and the 'missing' PM will suddenly appear.

While we are on the subject of pm's, every time I get a pm, I get the same one twice. It happens all the time, and has been happening for about a week. Surely every pm I get is not being sent twice accidentally. And they are mostly from different people, too.

This is not too big a deal, but thought someone might want to know.
