Attorney: Marine Fighting Extradition From Mexico
Attorney says Marine accused of killing pregnant colleague is fighting extradition to US
The attorney for a Marine accused of killing a pregnant colleague says his client is fighting extradition to the United States.
Dick McNeil says 21-year-old Cpl. Cesar Laurean has filed an extradition appeal in a Mexican court.
In September, North Carolina officials said a Mexican court approved returning Laurean to the U.S.
Laurean is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach. The 20-year-old from Vandalia, Ohio, was eight months pregnant when she was killed late last year.
Her remains were found in Laurean's backyard near North Carolina's Camp Lejeune where both Marines served as clerks.
Laurean was arrested in Mexico in April.

All Maria's family wants is closure. Cesar can fight all he wants to, but, the devil is waiting on him
You can hide in Mexico's accommodations all you want Cesar, but, you will be tried here in the good ol USA!!!
I hope they send you home on Christmas, so that way it will refresh your memory of what you did to Maria!!!!!!!!

Murdered Marine Suspect's Wife Visits Him in Mexican Jail
The wife of a Marine charged with murdering another Marine who was pregnant is visiting her husband in a Mexican jail, which has the North Carolina prosecutor in the case worried.
Onslow County District Attorney Dewey Hudson said the Marine Corps granted leave to Lance Cpl. Christina Laurean to visit her husband, Cpl. Cesar Laurean. Hudson only learned about her request last week.
Hudson told reporters that he got word Christina Laurean was already in Mexico, where she traveled from Camp Lejeune.
"It was determined her request had to be allowed," Hudson said during a news conference Thursday. "We have taken proper steps to maintain contact with Christina while she is in Mexico."
Cesar Laurean is charged with first-degree murder in the December death of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who had accused him of rape.
Laurean fled a day before Lauterbach's body and that of her unborn child were found buried in his backyard. He is fighting extradition.
Authorities say Christina Laurean has cooperated with investigators.

You've got to be kidding me!!!
Why in the world would she want to go visit him, after all the hell he has put her thru; unless she knows alot more to the story than she is letting on.
This hole case makes me sick.. Has any dna been taken to formally say he is Maria's baby's daddy?

It's called love, afmomx3. Hard to understand sometimes, about criminals, isn't it? They do have people in their lives who love them, strange as it may seem. I understand Laurean's parents visited him as well.
Remember that Christina and Laurean have a child together. They are husband and wife. That is a bond that is not easily broken. But for us, it IS so easy to say, well she should just leave him, hate him for what he did. Sometimes the heart rules over the mind.
I never walked a mile in her shoes.

I believe that they did determine he was the father of the the victim's baby. However, I thought he was already cleared for extradition to the USA. So what do I know?
I agree with why in the hell would his wife visit him in Mexico! Maybe she is hoping to get him to sign over full custody of their child. Perhaps she is serving him divorce papers?
