“Melrose Place” and “Spin City” actress Heather Locklear was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving while impaired, TMZ.com reported.
The 47-year-old star was pulled over by California Highway Patrol in the Santa Barbara area after a resident reported seeing the actress leave a parking lot and “driving erratically,” CHP spokesman Tom Marshall told the Associated Press.
The officer then noticed Locklear’s car parked on a state highway, blocking a lane in Montecito, a city 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles. The actress was believed to be alone in the car, Marshall said.
Upon talking with Locklear, the cop determined she was “under the influence of something,” Marshall said.
The former Mrs. Richie Sambora was then taken to a police station, where she was tested for alcohol and drugs. The actress was booked at 7 p.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription drugs. Locklear was released on her own recognizance without having to post bail.
In June, Locklear checked into a medical clinic to seek help anxiety and depression.
Last year, she divorced Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora after 11 years of marriage. They have a daughter, Ava Elizabeth.

A resident called authorities after allegedly seeing Locklear driving "erratically" in a parking lot. But the CHP didn't see her driving -- she had pulled over on her own accord before they got there. There are reports she was arrested for driving under the influence of prescription medication -- but we're told the tests are still being analyzed. As we posted yesterday, no alcohol was involved.
The bottom line -- Locklear has a lawyer with a Ty Cobb batting average, Blair Berk. Especially given that deputies apparently didn't see her driving, look for a plea bargain and very possibly a reduced charge -- e.g., reckless driving.
