Join Me in the Fight Against Injustice

to prison for a crime I didn't commit.

I'm writing to ask you to make a donation today to help the Innocence Project stop wrongful convictions like mine before they happen.

Follow this link to donate now: http://ip.convio.net/site/R? =sOWXobyRg3noAa_gIqcL7A..

I spent 10 years in Texas prisons for a crime I didn't commit, and then 15 years on parole as a registered sex offender. When you're on parole, you're not free. It's hard to keep a job and it takes a toll on you and your family. I saw my parole officer every week and I had to register as a sex offender every year right around my birthday. I lived under this cloud while fighting to clear my name until DNA testing obtained by the Innocence Project proved my innocence in 2007.

Since my exoneration, I have devoted my life to helping change the laws in my home state and across the U.S. Your support helps me and the Innocence Project fight injustice across the country. Please make an online donation today and you'll be entered to win a signed copy of "Picking Cotton," the new book by Ronald Cotton
and Jennifer Thompson-Cannino.

As in Ronald Cotton's case, eyewitness identification was the central evidence against me. In my case, the 12-year-old victim said he was assaulted by a 5'8'' African-American man with a light complexion. I am 6' 4" tall and have a dark complexion. I believe a proper lineup could have prevented my wrongful arrest and conviction.

Two weeks ago, I testified before the Texas legislature about bills that would improve the state's identification procedures, among other critical criminal justice reforms. I told lawmakers my story, and I told them that I know I left innocent people behind in prison
who don't have the benefit of DNA to prove their innocence.

Simple changes in the way we conduct identification procedures could stop us from sending the wrong people to prison and help us catch the real perpetrators of crimes.

I will be working for reform as long as my voice can make a difference, and I hope you'll join me by supporting the Innocence Project.
