Just to add, my apologies to non English speakers. In the localized Language versions, I used the English terms. If someone is using a particular language overlay and wants to translate the following strings I will update their language table.
Kay
$lang['Ignored'] = 'IGNORED';
$lang['Is_ignored'] = ' is on your %sIGNORE%s list.';
$lang['Has_ignored'] = ' has IGNORED you.';
$lang['Ignore_user'] = 'Ignore';
$lang['Unignore_user'] = 'Unignore this user';
$lang['Ignore_list'] = 'Ignore List';
$lang['No_Ignore'] = 'You are not currently ignoring any users';

Just to add all the templates have been uploaded.
Apologies for the icky stock icons for the ignore function. Joy will be doing some of them as she can after which I will replace the icky ones...
If there are any volunteers to help Joy with the icons, PM her.

Thanks so much, Kay.
What is the maximum number of people that we can ignore?

Thanks, Kay -- actually I can't think of anyone to ignore -- each of our members is unique

Hopefully the ignore feature will short circuit the personal attacks that degrade RU away from being a high quality discussion forum. The ignore button is a non-violent shunning mechanism. A further way to get the point across to those who are offensive that they need to change their ways, would be if it was possible to have a table that shows a score of how many posters have pushed the ignore button on a particular poster. Perhaps this could be tallied in the membership list page or elsewhere.

In lurker mode that is without an account even, the poster "iwabwu" is shown as being ignored. Also with an account and logged in, without having selected to ignore this poster, it also shows up as ignored (see below).
I suspect these might be your personal settings when you were setting up the feature? They appear to have been carried over to The default template jasidog.
TIP to test this "iwabwu" log out and view the poster's posts.
btw as a newbie I'm interested in this forum but once logged in, it is not displayed. Can I get an invite.

Thanks for the heads up. Upon investigating we found several people who were flagged as "on Ignore" for the Anonymous user.
We are not certain as to how this occurred and are checking. In the mean time I have deleted the entries directly from the database which will allow a non-logged in user to browser that users posts.
In reference to the hidden forum you are probably referring to "Heated Exchange" once you have more than 25 posts you will be able to access that forum automatically.
Have a great time and welcome to our community.

technical update.
Kay, while fixed as discussed, it appears that when a signed in member does apply the ignore feature, it goes system wide for anonymous users.
The poster calling itself "doc" who was on the list with "iwabwu", as a test I had it feel necessary to "ignore" me, a/k/a debug mode , it's ignore of me, propegagtes system wide to anonymous.
BTW - what are the rules in this forum, should this individual be pinning tails on donkey's whether correct or wrong?

thank you for the info.
I will keep working on it on a time available basis until we track down the cause.
As to Benchi, pinning the tail on the donkey, yup here there is no rule preventing her from doing so. As for rules here there are veery few., as I am sure you have noticed while reading.

Other than the obvious, what does "pin the tail on the donkey" mean? Thank you.

Good Morning,
Certain forums have limited memberships. I assume you are referring to either of 2 forums that you can see has a guest but eithr disapear once you are logged in or refuse you access,
The first is Heated Exchange which has a requirement that you have had at least 25 posts here before you will receive access. I should add that that is 25 valid posts, we have had people who tried doing posts like "1" then "2" etc or answering "me too" to 25 message threads. It is only faitr to warn you that both the Admin and Moderators take a dim view of that....
The Second is Matters of the Heart and Body
This forum is for discussing very personal topics such as emotional well-being,
grief and personal illness or illness of a loved one.
To access this forum please click the orchid to go the group sign up page.
GFollow the instructions and provide the Moderator of that group with the requested details and on her discression you will be granted Access to that group.
Hope this helps

Kay_the_Kitten .. the ignore button is stil available to the guest user, not visible, but by crafting the correct URL it is still possible to arbitrarily put posters on IGNORE for other guest users.

Hello.
I am trying to understand this ignore feature.
I have been told by friends of mine that are NOT members, that when they visit RU, they see me as being ignored.
How can that be that anything I post (and several others) can not be seen by anyone unless they are a member, and signed in?
This has been going on for weeks.
Can anyone explain that to me please?

If I'm not logged in, I can only see about 4 people's posts. Everyone else is on ignore. I know how it works, just find it amazing how many people are on someone's ignore list these days. Seems everyone is on ignore LOL
