We'uns may not like Ike.
I just looked at the long range loop out of Key West. At this minute, Ike is moving off the Cuba coast and heading over warm water.
The media says IKE has weakened considerably but in my opinion, IKE is a huge hurricane creating tornados, in S Florida, roughly 125 miles from the eye. I can't see the other side of IKE but he could be well over 200 miles in diameter, and IMO, much bigger than Gustav or Hanna. Now, he may strengthen...

Ike was huge. 700 miles across. Almost wiped Galveston off the coast. So much devastation but the death toll seems pretty low. Glad they got most of everyone out. Houston was also hit hard. 2 million people without electricity and they are saying it may be up to 4 weeks before they are able to get everyone back up. WOW that is a lot of people. We were without power for 2 weeks when Hurricane Alicia came through. That was not fun. It is still hot in September.
We did not get rain or wind here in Austin but we are full of evacuees. The schools are closed today because they have to figure out where the evacuees will be going on from here.
