VERBATIM AND COMPLETE

Kimberley:

A young pregnant mother is found bludgeoned to death in her home one month ago. The crime has cops working tirelessy to catch a merciless killer. Now information that her husband was having an affair with another woman. Authorities have not called him a suspect, but this new information have investigators taking a closer look.

Here are the facts of the case:

Michelle's body was found by her sister and she was face down in her bedroom, killed by blunt force trauma.

Jason Young talked to cops the day Michelle was found. He also submitted to fingerprints under Court Order. Since then, investigators say Jason has been unco-operative.

Warrants indicate he was having a relationship with another woman in the months prior to Michelle's murder.

And joining us now with the latest, former NYPD homicide detective Mike Sheehan and on the phone is WRAL reporter Amanda Lamb. Thanks for being with me tonight to both of you.

Amanda first up, alright warrants indicate that Jason was having this relationship with another woman. What exactly do we know about that?

Amanda:

Well, basically what we know is that one of the warrants indicated that they found out there was daily, or almost daily contact between this woman in Florida and Jason Young and the contact involved cell phone calls and e-mails and this occurred for about 3 months prior to Michelle Young's death according to the warrant.

They went to Florida, they interviewed this woman, they searched her home and specifically searched her computer and we understand she's been co-operative with investigators. Her name is Michelle Money, she's a sorority sister of Michelle Young, went to North Carolina State University and knew both of them when she was in college and obviously continued that friendship throughout the years in college.

Kimberley:

It's so disturbing to be betrayed by a friend, by a sorority sister, that's why I was never in a sorority, they're always trying to get each other's boyfriends and that is bad business.

This disturbs me, this is going on for 3 months. How did the police learn this? Did they just come forward with the information or did the cops catch him?:

Amanda:

Well, one of the things we do know is the warrants extensively searched a lot of records pertaining to Jason Young for example all of his cellphone records, they searched computer records, the searched credit card statements, they looked at all of this travel information so you could surmise that through some of that information they were led to this woman in Florida.

Kimberley:

You recently went to Jason Young's sister's house, is that correct?

Amanda:

That is correct.

Kimberley:

What did you find out?

Amanda:

We had been told that he'd been staying with his sister and brother in law in the western part of the state where he's from, in a town called Brevard, it's about 4.5 hours from Raleigh and basically I spoke briefly with his sister at the home. She basically said the family had no comment, they didn't want to talk about the investigation, they wanted to be left alone and they were grieving and wanted some privacy and she would not confirm whether or not Jason Young was staying with her in that part of the state.

Kimberley:

There's an interesting fact that I picked up on. This body was discovered by his sister, correct?

Amanda:

It was discovered by Michelle's sister, so that would have been Jason's sister in law.

Kimberley:

Right, and he called her to go to the house to pick up a document. That's kind of unusual isn't it?

Amanda:

Right, and investigators aren't really talking about that. It is in the affidavit of the search warrants that that is what initiated this young woman named Meredith Fisher to go to the home. That she had received a call from Jason Young and what we understand now is that it was something on the computer printer, something that had been printed out I guess remotely from his computer.

Kimberley:

It's interesting, because he sends her to the house and I'll talk to Mike about this, to pick up this document. Hey sister in law, go to the house, it's setting it up so she can find the body is what it sounds like.

Sheehan:

Absolutely, it's like, this whole thing seems to be construed if you look at it that way. The mere fact that he's having an ellicit affair with another woman doesn't make him a murderer but if you look at the facts, he's conveniently out of the house, he's conveniently out of the state apparently on the night she was murdered. She's last seen alive at 10:30 pm on thursday, she's found dead by her own sister, based on a phone call from the husband to go pick up this document.

So there are a lot of unanswered documents and then the mere fact you just lost your pregnant wife, the love of your life and you don't make yourself available to the police and you run out right away and hire yourself an attorney?

Kimberley:

If he has nothing to hide, why not come forward, why not say this is the most important thing in my life right now is to find who's responsible, instead, where is he, noone can talk to him, he's not being co-operative. All they got out of him is fingerprints and apparently every one of these affidavits are saying Jason's not being co-operative.

Sheehan:

They're also bringing him in, not just for fingerprints but for, as we used to call it
(inaudible) case prints where you actually instead of just the basic fingerprints, now you're getting the palms, fingertips. All that stuff is important.

Also very important in a case like this, because blunt force traume is one of the worse homicides you can run into, because the blood, you have to beat someone pretty hard to kill them, a lot of people don't realize that. Blood spatters, apparently this was a terrible crime scene

Kimberley:

And they've taken his car, he's driving his wife's car now because his was confiscated, so much to talk about in this case. Amanda, Mike thanks so much.
