Salsa vs. Pico de Gallo

What's the difference? For the life of me, I can't figure it out.

Or picante even? What's the difference between the three?

pico de gallo -really chunky and made w/ lime juice

salsa - generally no lime and interchangeable with the word picante

people would be more inclined to cook their salsa or picante but never pico de gallo.

That is the way I understand it too, PB. Pico, in my experience, does not have the sauce like salsa.

Pico is my favorite. It has a bright flavor and is usually very fresh.

Hmmm, well I really appreciate the responses. I usually buy deli fresh salsa and just bought the deli fresh pico - can't tell the difference in any way, shape or form.

Same goes for salsa vs. picante in the jar, ie. Pace, Chi-Chi's, etc. They both seem the same.

Guess I must have an arrested palate or something.
