MJ RIP- Grammys pay tribute to Michael Jackson/Earth Song

Postby annie13 » Sun Jan 31, 2010 10:20 pm

The earth song was played and Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Celine , smokey Robinson and Carrie Underwood sang with it. Michael's kids were there, Prince and his sister Paris!

Grammys pay tribute to Michael Jackson with help from his kids A fitting salute _ EW.com

Do not adjust your TV sets — you just witnessed a Michael Jackson tribute so big it could not be confined to a mere two dimensions, courtesy of the Grammys. The tune was 1995’s “Earth Song,” with environmentally themed 3-D visuals that looked familiar if you saw This Is It. This performance was something else entirely, though, thanks to guest singers Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson, and Jennifer Hudson. A slightly random assortment of names on paper, they brought exactly the right level of power and emotion to the song on stage.

Speaking of emotion, Jackson’s children Michael “Prince” Joseph Jr. and Paris-Michael Katherine shared some brief but truly moving words about their late father after the music ended. When Prince stumbled over his lines, it was nearly impossible not to choke up right along with him.

What did you think of the Grammys’ Michael Jackson tribute? Was this a fitting send-off to the King of Pop? Weigh in below.

What did you think annie? I thought the performance was over the top. His two kids look healthy though so that made me happy.

I just still feel so badly for his children. Those poor kids... They do look well though, I agree with Pax. I think it was a great performance.

I think Paris will become a doctor someday. She has that "look" about her. Well God bless them. I wish them well. I bet they'll surprise us all and become very happy, well-adjusted and successful adults. That's my gut feeling.

I wish the Jackson family would stop exploiting those children.

Michael always kept them away from the camera's.
Heck he even put a veil in front of their faces when they went out in public.
And now they have to do this?

I would think his children would be proud to be there representing their father.

And Pax, I liked the performance, I am curious as to why and who and how those performers were picked to sing his earth song?

I'm patiently waiting to see and hear the new "We are the world" rumor has it his children will read a poem or something?

And Savannah....I am with you on your thoughts for them being well adjusted I hope they have the peace of mind their father never had.

I don't think they were "exploited" by being on that show, accepting an award for their father!

Hi annie. I also wondered how they got involved with the earth song. Maybe the musical director used friends of MJ who were available and weren't performing in another part of the grammy show. I'd guess a lot of people love the song and wanted to be involved in the tribute.

I did not think so either and was so impressed by their words as it shows how much they loved their father and they want to keep his memory alive.
