ORANJESTAD (AAN): Wednesday, the judge’s decision became known, in the case which attorney Carlo brought forward, representing Joran van der Sloot.

Attorney Antony Carlo started a case a few weeks back, to request that the Public Prosecutor declare that his client Joran van der Sloot is officially no longer a suspect in the case of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, or to instruct the Public Prosecutor to set a period of time within which they have to start a case against his client.

Both petitions were denied by judge Smid of Curacao.

It is the official Aruban OM spokeswoman Mariaine Croes' words that is being parsed - not mine.

Croes said the Dutch teenager has a team of lawyers, so Carlo's removal will not leave van der Sloot without representation. The spokeswoman is not related to Steve Croes

Nice to see you sourcing Diario for facts. ....By that time (March 2006) Meester van der Sloot was a partner in the law firm of Carlo and van der Sloot. Crazy shit...especially with those concerns of impropiety.

I have received only positive reactions from the professional group.” Van der Sloot was working as a trainee-judge for the Common Court of the Neth.Antilles and Aruba. Before that, he was working at the OM and was chief Legal Matters at the DJZ. Since Van der Sloot has not worked as a lawyer before, Carlo will function as his model for the next three years.

I don't think that Paulus would have stated that he was subsitute judge if he hadn't heard a case or cases. The subsitute judge distinction doesn't appear to be a given on the training path.

BENOEMINGEN GEMEENSCHAPPELIJK HOF VAN JUSTITIE VAN DE NEDERLANDSE ANTILLEN EN ARUBA


De Rijksministerraad heeft op voorstel van minister Remkes van Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties ingestemd met een tweetal benoemingen.


De heer mr. G.E.M. Polkamp (52) wordt voorgedragen voor benoeming tot lid van het Gemeenschappelijk Hof van Justitie van de Nederlandse Antillen en Aruba. Momenteel is de heer Polkamp plaatsvervangend lid van het Hof. De benoeming gaat in op 1 januari 2003.


De heer mr. P.A.P.J. van der Sloot (50) wordt voorgedragen voor benoeming tot plaatsvervangend lid van het Gemeenschappelijk Hof van Justitie van de Nederlandse Antillen en Aruba. De heer van der Sloot is nu werkzaam als kabinetschef bij de procureur-generaal van Aruba. De benoeming gaat in op 1 januari 2003 voor een periode van drie jaar.
