Why is the Chief cop working with Dutch Television

Julia, what is this Dutch television joint program that's being planned?

Julia:

Earlier this year Dutch tv did a segment on the Natalee case as well as many other shows, apparently most recently this Dutch tv show very similar to AMW made a presentation to the prosecution and detectives, it sounds like they're going to go ahead and do this together, to hopefully bring out more clues or evidence

Greta:

What makes anyone think that this will generate more clues that the offer of $250,000 reward

Julia:

They actually have been able to obtain very similar clothing, shoes and other things that possibly could trigger, maybe a local on the island that saw something on the beach, shoes on the sand or similar thing

Greta:

Somebody will actually re-enact..something will play Natalee?

We don't know that, we know they have the props and how they will present them, we don't know that

Greta:

how do they reconcile the fact that Dompig told 48 hours they're in the last critical phase, now they have a show coming up , ...which suggests that they're not at a final point

Julia:

It's a television show ...

Greta:

it's not just a television show, it's a joint operation it's a very serious thing, into a missing person case

They have a Dutch team here searching in specific areas, when he says critical final phase we can assume that he has specific details into a specific area ....

Greta:

What's it going to do, why would it generate more interest than $250,000 reward. You hit it right on the money Greta, We had that money out there, and nobody has come forward with credible information. I just don't know what a tv show will accomplish.

Greta:

What Dompig said in the 48 Hours Show is that the investigation is in its critical final phase, and now they're not winding it up after all

Beth;

Exactly, we just go back to everything they said all along, they're always winding up sometning, but then we're right back to the beginning.

Greta:

Did you or your lawyer get a head's up on this tv show?

Beth:

John told me yesterday or day before about it.

Greta:

You got the heada sup 1 day before us in a press release

Beth:

that's when he told me, I don't know when he was told.

There's something that I'm hearing, I'll have to confirm it. I have issues with it, I hope the clothes is only going to be similar, that they're not using the evidence I sent to the island

Greta:

Would it be helpful to call the Chief and find out about these details?

Beth:

Maybe I should see about that, you're probably right Greta

Maybe they'll give you more information on that, the show is scheduled to air in mid April

What does this show tell us about the investigation. Beth in addition to the show, Dompig had an interview with 48 hours, did you see it

Beth:

I saw it. There were some negative things, but when I pulled positive things out of it, there were several things. Really it has gone along with what we have been saying from the beginning, that Joran took Natalee to his apartment..it's something we've been chasing down as more than a theory that he possibly had disposed of Natalee quickly and reburied her. Her father and I chased that down for a long time

I'm surprised your're not brining up what struck me, he said he has strong feelings that this was an alcohol and drug death, not that he had evidence about it and I quibble about a police officer saying that

Beth:

When I said yes there was negative, absolutely that's one of them I was outraged at the suggestion she had drugs in her possession that he would make such a slanderous statement about Natalee.

Greta:

They claim they have a credible source leading them to the sand dunes, is this an area that hasn't been searched

Beth:

I'm going with a big NO.. The FBI requested that the ALE give them the name of the witness, they wouldn't do it, they couldn't make it credible for the FBI so they didn't get involved. I'm just sorry, I don't buy it at all

Greta:

Maybe they're trying to protect their witness

Beth:

I pray you're right. I just, I'm afraid this one is just a big NO.

Greta:

I hope we're wrong on any criticism we have of ALE.

This is a terribly weird thing, if we remember we have AMW in America, but the problem with this is it's too late. They told us that this investigation is in it's critical final phase, this does not sound like critical last phase

You know what, why not. My heart goes out fo Beth The criticism of the police isright on, but they're damned if they do and damned if they don't.. They're putting it together in trying to find the body

IF this is such a good idea, wouldn't it make sense to have it in English and air it in the US since that beach was filled with American tourists...they're looking for clues so why not do it in English

If they want to co-operate and do our show we'll do the show in english in the US in primetime but they won't talk to us

Maybe since you've said it..they'll contact you ...

It's a last ditch effort and it will fall on deaf ears, who in ARuba doesn't know bout Natalee. They will find a witness to a murder that didn't know they were eyewitnesses??...I think that's where they're trying to put their efforts

Jim:

Here's the deal, if you look back at the last year, they made critical mistakes, they got their pride offended by the boycott and criticism.
They're doing now what they should have done earlier. When the search is over, it's very cruel to a family to tease her with a new witness if it's not credible

If tv is a good idea, is it smart to appeal to arubans and ppl appealing in Holland or do it in English for all those ppl who were travelling from New York and Alabama

Jim:

You're totally right, everyone in Aruba can memorize what Natalee looked like. It's an american tourist who needs to see this tv show

Venezuela is a good choice as well

There's been a $250,000 reward and if nobody has bitten on that, no tv show is going to bring anybody forward

Yeah, but if they walked away from this you'd all be screaming

The problem is they haven't come out and been candid with us, families can accept the truth but not this shell game.

Why can't Beth just say, I am heartbroken at the loss of my daughter and I welcome all efforts to find her. I am grateful to this Dutch TV program and hope it will generate useful leads. Beth's incessant criticism is simply not helping!

This sounds like she sent the clothes that Natalee was wearing that evening and she doesn't want them worn in the re-enactment? Did she go and buy another set exactly like the ones Natalee had and if so why would that be considered "evidence"? I'm confused????

Yes, we have. I just knew Beth had come up with identical clothing by now...but why did she think it's evidence? And she even says she sent it to the island.

P.S. For the record, U.S. Supreme Court case...one can't slander/libel the dead....now if she's alive that's a different matter.
