what will he do with it without dr. jamie around to fix it for him? if the fbi is looking a the laptop drive it is more likely to do wit the extortion case. The FBI doesn't have jurisdiction in the Natalee Holloway matter per se. i still want to know it the fbi was keeping tabs on joran in lima when the unfortunate event transpired. when is someone going to leak that part? and what about those "friends" of joran who were moonlighting for the fbi? and just because you have not seen it on trashloid tv blogs doesn't mean the arubans, through the dutch, have not seen the hard drive or that the fbi won't share it.

LE cannot make multiple copies for distribution to third parties under their warrant. If the FBI is going to examine the hard drive it's because they've provide the court with probable cause and secured their own search warrant for it.

I have no idea what the FBI intends to do but it sounds like the Peruvian courts are perfectly agreeable to whatever it is.

directly involved in the disappearance on Aruba of Natalee Holloway unless it was an act of terrorism or the result of a conspiracy directed from the US. They do have jurisdiction in the extortion matter. In any case I hope they share with the Arubans in the unlikely event they find anything useful on his computer about Natalee's disappearance. I still think it likely that Joran was tracked to Peru and watched there by somebody. If he sensed this he might have been quite paranoid by the time he went off on Stephany.

Joran was watched everywhere he went since Natalee went missing. This was nothing different. C'mon Iquitos. Surely you aren't hinting that as an explanation for his killing Stephany? When do the excuses stop?

1. He was just a 17 year old normal kid
2. He lied cuz he was scared
3. He scammed friends to get money
4. He scammed networks to get money
5. He lied about his father. (Why was that now???)
6. He ran away from the help Anita was trying to provide for him
7. He killed Stephany. Take your pick on this one...there have been too many reasons to count.
It is the very things we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.

POLICE TO MEET WITH HIGH-TECH FBI review of Van der Sloot laptop in Lima
March 13, 2011

LIMA| A group of FBI agents come to the capital tomorrow to review the Dutch computer Joran van der Sloot, to find new clues to the American teenager Natalee Holloway, who disappeared in Aruba in 2005. Investigators will meet with officers of the Division of High Technology Research (Divindat) of the Dirincri.

As is known, the foreign citizen has been detained in maximum security prison Migue Castro Castro for the murder of Stefanny Flores is also charged with the disappearance of another girl.

However, the case is still cited for more than six years without resolve. It is to this that FBI personnel review the laptop was confiscated to Van der Sloot during his capture by the National Police.

Sources of the specialized unit reported that the process will be by permission of the judiciary and are in full coordination.

Violent emotion. In Peru, the Netherlands has turned to a sincere confession in order to indicate that he acted in the midst of a "violent emotion." to reduce his sentence, because no longer would process for aggravated homicide, which carries a penalty of 25 years in prison.

However, your own computer disrupts this version, as it has been determined that at the time of the crime, or even minutes before the laptop was not on.

No, it doesn't. The quote from Kelly was the only comment I had seen from Beth.

Here is a little more of the story from the link:
----

The FBI is sending agents to Peru to examine a laptop found in the possession of a Dutch national - who remains the main suspect in the disappearance of U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway in 2005.
Joran van der Sloot, 23, is currently in a Peruvian jail awaiting trial over the murder of 21-year-old business student Stephany Flores in a hotel room last year.
Court documents issued in Lima indicate that FBI agents will meet on Monday with agents from the Peruvian National Police High Technology Crime Division.
The laptop of interest to the FBI was reportedly found with other possessions of van der Sloot's after his arrest in the Flores case.
The FBI is still looking for leads in the disappearance of the 18-year-old Holloway, who vanished on the island of Aruba while on a high school graduation holiday.
Her body has never been found. Van der Sloot was the last person seen with her and was subsequently arrested.
He has several times confessed then recanted a role in the disappearance of Holloway, and has also been indicted by U.S. authorities for his alleged involvement in a plot to extort $250,000 from Holloway's family for information on her death and the location of her body.
The new break in the case will give fresh hope to Natalee's mother, Beth Twitty, who has been desperate for information on the whereabouts of her daughter for five years.

Peruvian investigators believe Flores was killed in van der Sloot's hotel room on May 30 - exactly five years after Holloway disappeared.
He is accused of bludgeoning and strangling her to death.
He intends to plead temporary insanity or 'violent emotion' - a plea specific to Peru, usually invoked in crimes of passion - in order to receive a shorter sentence.

Jurisdiction doesn't seem to be an issue since it is the Peruvian Court ordering the computer info to be made available. Whatever it is, the Peruvian Court decided the FBI needs to review it. I applaud their effort at cooperation.

I think Steph snooping on Jorans laptop is pure BS.. a story he was cooking up by getting the coffee. Steph was long dead before he went out. I believe point 36 in the published interrogation report (explaining a FB message he received which they both saw at the same time) to be closer to what happened.

Are answers to Natalee's fate on Joran's computer?

Birmingham, Al (CBS42) Will almost six years of mystery about Natalee Holloway's fate be solved when FBI agents inspect the hard drive of Joran van der Sloot's computer?

FBI agents are due to meet with Peruvian justice officials in Lima Monday and are expected to get a copy of the contents of Joran van der Sloot's laptop. That could be a key break in the almost six years of wondering about the fate of Natalee Holloway, a Mountain Brook teen who disappeared on a school trip to Aruba in 2005. She was seen leaving a club with Joran van der Sloot..and never seen again.

The computer in question is a key element in two international crime stories...Natalee's disappearance and the murder of 21 year old college student Stephany Flores. Flores corpse was found in van der Sloot's Lima, Peru hotel room exactly five years after Natalee's disappearance in Aruba. Peruvian officials and even van der Sloot's attorney say he killed Flores in a rage after she found material relating to Natalee on his laptop.

That happened shortly after FBI officials say van der Sloot committed wire fraud and extortion by promising the Holloway family information about Natalee's fate but never coming across with real information.

It's possible there might be evidence pertaining to the fraud case on the laptop as well as information about Natalee's last hours.

The Birmingham FBI office would not confirm that local agents are making the trip to Lima.

Van der Sloot's Peruvian defense attorney Max Altez is expected to be at the meeting with FBI agents as will a representative of Stephany Flore's family.

Altez is seeking a 3-5 year sentence in Flores death claiming what amounts to temporary insanity. Peruvian justice officials and the Flores family have called her death a particularly violent crime and are asking for 30 years.

A Birmingham justice department spokesperson says the local feds are keeping a close eye on the process unfolding in Peru. Van der Sloot also faces possible extradition to Alabama to face the wire fraud and extortion charges.

I think Joran is running out of options. Then again he is a poker player so maybe he's either been bluffing the whole time or waiting to play the "Natalee" card when he gets called. Either way, IMO he won't play that card until he gets out of Castro Castro. He better hope they find something that will allow him to plead temporary insanity or he'll be there a lot longer than 3-5 years. If they don't find anything that "Natalee" card may quickly become moot because many will forget about this case after 25 years. Tick tock, Tick tock Joran.

All together now:

Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done
