By mid-July, with Joran still languishing in the San Nicolas jail, undergoing daily questioning by Aruban, Dutch, and F.B.I. officials, a motley crowd of television producers, search teams, private eyes, and beach bums each determined to solve the case. One was Arthur Wood, a retired Secret Service agent who lives outside Ocala, Florida, and who spent his evenings glued to the Holloway coverage. In mid-June, Wood e-mailed some thoughts to Jossy Mansur, managing editor of the Aruban newspaper El Diario, who had latched onto the Twitty bandwagon as part of his own feud with the Aruban government. Eager to develop leads, Mansur invited Wood to Aruba, and put him on his payroll.

VAN SUSTEREN: There's a long list — a long list of statements in this letter to the attorney general in an effort to get a new team put in place. And let me read another rather long exchange in the letter. And it's about — it's about your lawyer, Helen Lejuez. And this is in the letter, And it says, "On October 20, 2005, Gerold Dompig" — that's the chief deputy — "advised me" — meaning Art — Art Wood, who's your investigator — "that Beth Twitty could not have made a worse choice in her selection of Helen Lejuez as her Aruban attorney. He said that Helen was a former prosecutor who was forced out of that office by mental problems. He made several disparaging comments concerning Mrs. Lejuez which I believe were unethical. He failed to mention that Mrs. Lejuez had represented his wife in a divorce action against him, which may explain his dislike for her." What...

TWITTY: Absolutely.

VAN SUSTEREN: What's your thought about that? What's going on there?

TWITTY: Well, I think that he was upset when Helen Lejuez — when we brought her on board. And I think the reason why is Helen Lejuez is a very committed and determined attorney. She does not give up, and she proceeds forward and she's very aggressive. And I just don't think that Deputy Dompig wanted someone like that brought on board.

Good old Art. What a guy.

Art Wood reports that one 17 year old girl, a native Aruban classmate of Joran's, has come forward to tell of being drugged and having a sexual excounter against her will this past Spring. She has a lawyer, and she also tells of two friends who have had a similar experience.
This is to be in Jossy's newspaper tomorrow per the PI.

The article reads...Last week the FBI indicated that at least three American women have come forward since Natalee's disappearance to report that they had been sexually assaulted while vacationing in Aruba. To my knowledge none of the reported victims have identified any suspect in the Holloway disappearance as their alleged assailant...

WOW

Scarbrough Country, Van Zandt is on saying he heard while he was in Aruba reports coming in from MULTIPLE WOMEN in MULTIPLE COUNTRIES coming forward.

Van Zandt did not report this with respect to letting Aruba LE to build their case.

Good old "Crazy Helen"

ABRAMS: For all four—well why for Joran as well? I mean just because they have new information, I mean wouldn‘t they have to take that to a judge and they would still have to prove more, for example, than they had to prove last time?
LEJUEZ: No, because they added rape to it and that gives you a new timeline again.
ABRAMS: So they did add the rape charge, right? I mean that is something new. And did that add that with regard to Joran van der Sloot as well?
LEJUEZ: Yes, they added for three of them and the fourth one is on another case. Yes.
ABRAMS: OK. I‘m sorry. My producer‘s telling me they have not added it for Joran, so we‘ve got to be careful on this. Helen, are you sure? Because my production team is telling me that they did not add a rape charge with regard to Joran.
LEJUEZ: That information I have, so maybe not. We still don‘t have the full information. They are not giving the full information, they‘re not giving the information even on the other suspect, but we have had words already, yes.

They are not giving the full information

No, they never did. Was Paulus arrested for conspiring after the fact? - They also didn't the guard's attorneys the documents from Joran's witness statements.

Official OM statement -
At this point he's a suspect," Croes said. "There's a reasonable suspicion that he knows something and is involved in the disappearance of Ms. Holloway."

You are arrested for us thinking that you know something......but you work here so we won't say what it specifically is since we have to have serious suspicion to arrest a person especially a possible Judge to be but just go along with it and you can still practice law afterward....

The OM (Prosecutor's office)

Reporter : Do you know the people very well, for example, the people here from the public prosecutors' office that ordered your detention?

Paul van der Sloot: Yes, for sure, because, before that, I have worked for eight years as chief of the cabinet of the prosecutor general

Reporter : So, you also know the current prosecutor general?

Paul van der Sloot: Yes.

Reporter: Mrs. Croes.

Mrs. Croes was out of the country at the time, iirc.

His appointment was finite and at some point he knew it would not be renewed. He had some leave to take and it was over in early 2006 IIRC.

It was over for all practical purposes on May 30, 2005.

If he was told he was not going to be a Judge, his appointment would have then ceased -

After having applied for a judgeship, those outsiders need to have an interview with the National Committee for the Selection of Judges consisting of legal and non-legal professionals. The Committee, in most cases, advises the candidates to take part in training as substitute judges for about a year. If the candidate is deemed incompetent during that training period, the appointment procedure will then cease, and if deemed eligible, the court may recommend his or her appointment to the government.

http://www.nichibenren.or.jp/en/activit ... 202_2.html

Paulus claimed he was still appointed and still at the court:

Reporter (Twan Huys): Which function do you have here at the island? Because many stories go around about that. What is your function?

Paul van der Sloot: I am a replacing member of the joint court of justice of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba [1] and I am appointed for a period of three years, from January the first, 2003, until January the first, 2006.

Reporter (Twan Huys): So, you are replacement judge?

Paul van der Sloot: Yes.

Paul van der Sloot: That is completely incorrect. The moment it became clear that Joran was going to be involved in this case in one way or another, I asked for leave and I have not been at the court anymore. That is, to make very clear, most of all, I am now a father and not a judge.

Reporter (Twan Huys): Because you realized that else these stories would be brought into the world?

Paul van der Sloot: In this situation you have to avoid every appearance [of impropriety].

His appointment as intending Judge ended on May 30, 2005 for all practical purposes. Why keep denying what he we was and that he had connections ? It's obvious - he said it himself....painting Paulus as an idiot simpleton wasn't believable years ago and it isn't now. IMO

His appointment ended when it ended.

Postby iquitos » Sun Apr 24, 2011 10:10 pm

He already knew it would end before Joran got into trouble. I think the fact he did not make the cut could be an indication that he was not that wired into the judiciary in the islands. In any case they did bring judges in from Curacao to avoid having an immediate colleague sit in judgement of his son. Janssen et al certainly did not cut him any slack when they hauled him in for questioning and declared him a suspect. Another indication of his poor connections with the judiciary is their judgement against him on compensation.

There is no proof of that - just island gossip - way way after the fact.

You can think he wasn't that wired in if you want. The facts and pictures show otherwise. Hi Mr. Vocking, good to see ya! - can we talk to Mr. van der Sloot - we got a search warrant and the other Judge would like to see how limited he wants it.

Not true. It was stated pretty early in the case in a serious paper in The Netherlands.
But ofcourse nobody read that paper at the time and probably not these days. NE is much more interesting non?

Until proof is shown - it fits the same category. Just something printed or heard that may or may not be true.
