I don't know anything about this girl's disappearance but perhaps she met the same end as three sisters and their father's first wife in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

The father, brother and second wife are on trial for the first degree murder of the four women, whose car ended up in the Rideau Canal where all four drowned.

The Crown alleges the first degree murder of the four was an honour killing.

I hope the school has surveillance, and maybe see if Aisha left the school alone or with someone...

Search continues for missing Johnson County Community College student

Dozens of volunteers handed out fliers Saturday as Overland Park police searched for a Johnson County Community College student missing since Friday morning.

Aisha Khan, 19, was studying for semester exams at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus when she phoned and texted relatives shortly before 11 a.m. Friday. In her messages she said an intoxicated stranger was harassing her and that she slapped the man, friends and relatives said Saturday.

Khan’s book bag and cell phone were later found on a picnic table near the campus’ Regents Center Library, 12600 Quivira Road.

Police said there were no witnesses to Kahn’s disappearance. “We don’t know if she is gone willingly or not,” said Matthew Bregel, an Overland Park police spokesman.

He said 40 police officers were actively searching for the woman.

The area where her belongings were found bordered a construction site where workers would have been milling.

“If you can’t be safe on the Edwards Campus at noontime in a suburban neighborhood, where can you be safe?” asked Haneen Abjabalah of Overland Park, who joined about 100 volunteers knocking on doors and circulating leaflets across a two-mile radius from the campus.

Kahn’s uncle, Sam Habib, said his missing niece was recently married and had stayed in contact with a wide circle of friends and family.

“We are all very close and know each other inside and out,” which made it unlikely she chose to disappear without telling anyone, said family friend Heena Ali.

Kahn — 5 feet 2 inches and 120 pounds — was last seen wearing black sweat pants, a yellow and black shirt and black head scarf. She wore a black jacket beneath a longer black-and-white coat.

Police said she may also be wearing glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8474).

Police seek information on missing Kansas college student

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas — Overland Park police are looking for a 19-year-old Johnson County Community College student who was last seen at the University of Kansas Edwards campus just before noon Friday.

Before Aisha Khan disappeared, she left a voice message on her sister's phone.

According to her sister, Khan had been sitting on a bench on campus when a stranger approached her and assaulted her.

She managed to run away and place the phone call to her sister.

"My heart is like pounding," Khan said in her voice message. "I've never got this scared in my life. Pick up your phone. I am freaked out right now."

When the sister got the message, she tried calling Khan back, but there was no answer.

When Khan's family arrived at the location, they found her belongings, including her cell phone, but Khan was missing.

Police searched a wooded area near the campus Saturday.

Khan's family is handing out thousands of fliers and is offering a $10,000 reward in the case.

Khan was last seen wearing black sweat pants, a yellow-and-black shirt, black head scarf, black regular-length jacket, and a long outer jacket that is black and white.

She is described as 5-foot-2, 120 pounds with dark hear and brown eyes. Police say she may or may not be wearing glasses.

Family offers $10,000 reward in search for missing JCCC student

A $10,000 reward is now being offered for information in the search for a Johnson County College student who was reported missing Friday.

Dozens of volunteers worked throughout Sunday in the effort to find 19-year-old Aisha Khan. The search began at midday Friday when she was reported missing from the University of Kansas Edwards campus in Overland Park.

“We need everybody to be thinking about Aisha all of the time,” said her uncle Adil Sheikh, one of many out-of-town relatives who have traveled to the Kansas City area.

Late Friday morning Khan called and sent text messages to relatives saying that she had slapped an intoxicated stranger who was harassing her.

A short time later her sister who had gone to the campus at 127th Street and Quivira Road to give her a ride found her unattended book bag and cell phone.

Besides the volunteet effort, an Overland Park police spokesman said Sunday that about 30 officers were involved in the investigation.

About 15,000 flyers have been printed and volunteers have been passing them out and canvassing the neighborhoods surrounding the campus.

Khan was studying for finals at the Edwards location, but she is actually a student at Johnson County Community College.

Besides the efforts on the ground, Khan’s uncle said they are utilizing Facebook and Twitter to disseminate information. The Facebook page “Help Find Aisha Khan” had accumulated more than 5,500 “likes” as of Sunday evening.

The family is offering the reward for information leading to her whereabouts, he said.

“We are appealing for leads and cooperation from the community,” Sheikh said.

Khan is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a yellow and black shirt, black sweat pants and a black head scarf. She may have also been wearing glasses. She was wearing a black jacket beneath a longer black and white coat.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (874-474-8477).

Missing Missouri Student Left Troubling Voicemail for Sister Before Disappearance

A missing 19-year-old Missouri college student last seen on the University of Kansas campus left her sister a troubling voicemail the morning she disappeared.

In the voicemail, Aisha Khan told her sister that while she was studying for finals at an outdoor picnic table, a man who appeared drunk had been harassing her and attempted to kiss her before she hit him and he took off.

"'I slapped him. He just smelled really bad, and I didn't know what to do,'" Khan's sister, Faiza Khan, recalled her sister saying in the voicemail, according to ABC News' Kansas City affiliate KMBC. "She's like, 'You need to pick up your phone. I'm confused.' She was freaked out at that point."

Shortly after, Faiza Khan tried to call her sister back, but her sister did not answer the phone. Faiza Khan rushed to where her sister said she had been studying on the university campus and found Aisha's belongings -- her cell phone, backpack and other items -- but Aisha was nowhere to be found.

"We have no information that it was an abduction and no information that it wasn't," Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass said at a news conference Monday. "We are looking at it as a missing person case and putting the resources into it as if it was an abduction."

Khan was last seen around 11 a.m. on Friday at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus. She is a student at the Johnson County Community College, a partner of the University of Kansas, which would explain her presence on campus.

Police have interviewed family, friends, students, faculty and construction workers who were working nearby. Douglass said the construction workers believe they saw someone that matched Khan's description walking away from the area alone, but police have not yet confirmed if it was Khan.

FBI agents are assisting the Overland Park Police Department in the investigation. Investigators on foot and on horseback have searched the campus, nearby woods, a creek bed, park and a nearby golf course to no avail.

There are no suspects or hard leads in the case. Khan's family is offering a $10,000 reward for information regarding her disappearance.

"We have looked at videotapes of all the intersections," Douglass said. "To date, we have seen absolutely nothing in that area."

Khan was married this year and police have spoken to her husband. The couple was living together in an apartment. Douglass said there was "no reason to believe that he is a suspect."

Khan's disappearance has led to an outpouring of support, including from many members of the Muslim community. Her missing person Facebook page has been flooded with messages to Allah, praying for her safe return.

Supporters have set up a "Help Find Aisha Khan" Facebook page that already has more than 10,000 supporters and a Twitter account, @FindAisha, has been set up. Both are frequently updated.

"There's so much we don't know about the case," Douglass said. "She's 19 years old, but not much more than a child. One of our own is missing and we need to find her."

Khan is 5 feet, 2 inches and weighs 120 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black head scarf, black sweat pants, a yellow and black shirt, a black jacket and a black and white coat. The Overland Police Department is asking that anyone who has any information call 913-344-8703.

'I am freaked out right now': Student vanishes after call

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The search intensified Monday for a 19-year-old woman who disappeared shortly after telling her sister that a drunken man had been harassing her.

Aisha Khan, a Johnson County Community college student, was last seen at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus in Overland Park on Friday.

Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass said Monday more 400 man-hours have been devoted to the search and the FBI has assigned four agents to the case. He said investigators are operating on a worst-case scenario.

Khan's sister said she received a troubling phone call from her on Friday morning. She said a drunken man had been harassing her, kmbc.com reported.

"Oh my gosh it was so scary. My heart is like pounding," Khan said in the voicemail she left for her sister. "I've never got this scared in my life." In the message, Khan told her sister that she slapped the man, and that he smelled very bad. "She said 'you need to pick up your phone, I'm confused.' She was freaked out," Khan's sister said. Khan's sister returned the call, but got no answer.

Khan's backpack and cell phone were later found on a picnic table near campus.

“We are looking at this as a missing person's case, and we are putting the resources into it as if it was an abduction," Douglass said.

Police have spoken with Khan's husband, Waseem Khan, with whom she shared a house in Olathe, and there is “no reason to believe” that he is a suspect or person of interest," Douglass said. Khan married Waseem over the summer. "I'm thankful to everybody to help me out, to bring my wife back to home," Khan's tearful husband told reporters.

"Keep us in your prayers," her uncle, Adil Sheikh, told NBC News, urging the public to "think of Aisha Khan all the time. You're going to a gas station, you're going to a post office, think of Aisha Khan at all times."

Khan's husband said a honeymoon was planned for after her final exams, reported NBC News' Kevin Tibbles.

Khan's family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to her safe return. A Facebook page has also been set up.

Relative says missing college student was not in “forced” marriage

The cousin of a Kansas college student who vanished last Friday said that she was not “forced” into her marriage earlier this year.

“They’ve always liked each other and there was no forced marriage here,” Farouk Sheikh told HLN’s Nancy Grace on Wednesday.

According to Sheikh, 19-year-old Aisha Khan had known her husband, Waseem, since childhood, but they married soon after he moved to the United States from Pakistan last summer. He suggested that it was similar to his own marriage, which he described as “the modern-day version of an arranged marriage.” In his case, he was introduced to his future wife by his parents, but they dated for several months and fell in love before marrying.

Sheikh said the family has considered the possibility that Khan, who was last seen on the Edwards Campus of the University of Kansas in Overland Park on Friday morning, had run away voluntarily, but they did not believe she would do something like that.

“There is nothing for her to run away from,” Sheikh said in the interview airing Wednesday night. “If she didn’t like what she was doing or the situation she was in, she would just change it herself and this is not a situation where she’s forced to do things and stuff like that.”

Khan tried to call her sister and her cousin several times over the course of nine minutes on Friday morning before she left a voicemail for her sister claiming that she was concerned about a man who appeared to be drunk and had been harassing her. However, she did not answer when her sister called back and her sister found her backpack and cell phone left behind on a table when she went to the school to look for her. Overland Park police told HLN that nobody else saw this man or could verify what she described in the voicemail message.

Khan, a student at Johnson County Community College, was on the KU-Edwards campus preparing for a final exam in government affairs that day, Sheikh said. According to police, three men nearby saw a woman matching her description walking away from the area alone, but authorities have not confirmed that the woman was Khan.

Sheikh described his cousin as “very headstrong,” “fun-loving” and “outspoken.” He said she was very close to her sister and cousin and she never expressed concerns to them about her relationship or her living situation. Khan and her husband live with her sister and brother-in-law in Olathe.

Sheikh said that he had personally examined the area around the bench where Khan’s sister found her belongings and he believed that it was possible that an abductor came from inside a building 10-15 feet away or through a hole in the fence surrounding the construction area on campus.

According to Sheikh, Khan was looking forward to meeting her mother at afternoon prayers on Friday and spending time with her because she had been so busy studying over the last few weeks, but she never arrived. The family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to her safe return.

Watch Nancy Grace Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on HLN for the complete interview with Khan’s cousin and the latest on the search.

Missing college student Aisha Khan found safe

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - A missing 19-year-old Olathe woman was found safe Wednesday afternoon.

Aisha Khan, a student at Johnson County Community College, disappeared on Friday, Dec. 16.

According to Overland Park police, officers made contact with her Wednesday afternoon.

She was not abducted or held against her will. Police said there is no criminal investigation.

Police had been searching for Khan, a student at Johnson County Community College, since Friday. She was at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus in Overland Park when she left her sister a voice mail saying she was assaulted by a stranger.

"Oh my gosh. It was so scary," Khan said in her voice message. "My heart is like pounding. I've never got this scared in my life."

When the sister drove to get her, she found only her book bag and cellphone.

Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass said earlier this week that Khan’s disappearance was classified as a missing case, but police would devote resources typical of an abduction case.

Officers said they searched the campus on horseback, interviewed family members and students on campus and even looked through surveillance video from a nearby gas station. KU Edwards Campus does not have any surveillance cameras.

Missing Student Found Safe and Sound

Story posted 2011.12.21 at 10:22 PM CST

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. –Overland Park Police say they have made contact with Aisha Khan. She was missing for five days.

FOX 4 News talked to Khan's family early on Wednesday. They believed she was abducted from the KU Edwards Campus is Overland Park. Khan had been studying at the school when she left two family members voicemails about being approached by a strange man. A short time later, they found her cell phone and books on the table, but Khan was no where to be found.

A construction project is underway. The construction crew of 85 people was scattered around the inside of the building. Private investigator Ron Rugen says it wouldn't be an ideal scene for an abduction.

"If something happened in that area it could go unnoticed," Rugen said. "But leaving from that area, it would be hard to go unnoticed."

Whatever happened on Friday morning went unnoticed. The construction superintendent tells FOX 4 that no one on the crew saw anything suspicious. He says if they would've seen something they would've stepped in. Family and friends say they are confident that Khan didn't run off.

"It's easy for people to speculate because she's only been married for three months that she ran away or she was unhappy," said .

"This is absolutely not the case. She's always had a very, very open relationship with her parents. And had she had experienced anything she would have gone directly to her parents." More than 100 people continue to search and hand out flyers to help find Khan. The family is also working with Pizza Hut and UPS hoping to have their drivers deliver the fliers across Kansas City.

No charges in Aisha Khan case

Overland Park Police are not pursuing criminal charges against Aisha Khan after her disappearance that triggered a police and volunteer search across the city, officials said today.

After six days of searching, police made contact with Khan on Wednesday and verified that she was not being held against her will and was not a victim of a crime.

At this point, police said she will not face charges because the case was not reported as a crime.

“In this case no crime was reported. It was reported as a missing person,” said Overland Park Police Spokeswoman Michelle Koos. “She didn’t call us regarding anything and quite frankly the family didn’t either. Officials on the (KU Edwards) campus contacted us.”

Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass also addressed the subject on his blog this morning with a headline reading “Safe is all that really matters.”

“I know there are probably a lot of unanswered questions regarding Aisha Khan. The most important fact for us all to remember is that she is safe. Everything else is now a personal family matter and we respect their privacy,” Douglass said.

Douglass also thanked everyone who dedicated their time to the search effort.

“In the end, one that was missing has now been found,” he said.

The 19-year-old Olathe woman disappeared Friday, after leaving a frightening message on her sister’s phone. Khan had been studying on the University of Kansas Edwards Campus when she left a message saying that she had slapped a man who tried to kiss her. Her sister drove to campus and discovered Kahn’s book bag and cell phone on a picnic table where she had been studying.

Dozens of law enforcement officers from Overland Park and several other agencies dedicated considerable working on the case.

Hundreds of volunteers also helped.

Family members, who had faced hours of intense questioning, had pleaded for help from the public.

Family members expressed relief Kahn was safe, but had little information to share today.

“The fact is, she’s alive, she’s well. We believe our prayers have been answered,” said a family friend, Aamer Trambu. “We do not have enough information yet, and we cannot tell you any more.”

Aisha Khan may be safe, but Facebook users ask for explanation of her disappearance

19-year-old Kansas student draws praise, criticism in online posts

Friday, December 23 2011, 2:15 AM

An angry digital mob has flocked to Facebook to express outrage over unanswered questions in the bizarre disappearance and re-emergence of a 19-year-old Kansas college student.

When Aisha Khan mysteriously vanished, a family friend set up a page on the social network in an effort to find her. Now, with the young bride safe and sound almost a week later and no foul play suspected, users are going online to demand an explanation.

“Can the family or at least Aisha Khan please give us an explanation of what happened?,” writes Ali Sharif. “Thousands of dollars of tax payers money was spent looking for her. I am happy that she is alive and well, however this whole drama requires an explanation, the family has to come clean on what really happened.”

AISHA KHAN FOUND SAFE, WAS NOT ABDUCTED

Khan disappeared from the University of Kansas campus in Overland Park on Dec. 16. Her family took extraordinary measures to get the word out, sharing their story on Facebook and Twitter as well as in the national media.

Waseem Khan, Aisha's husband, went on “Good Morning America” on Wednesday to say he believed his wife of five months had been kidnapped.

Authorities found her later Wednesday, and determined she had not been abducted. In fact, law enforcement officials believe no crime was committed, and they are not pursuing charges against Khan.

“She didn't report any criminal activity so there’s nothing at this time that I’m seeing that she could be charged for, unless there’s something else going on, which there hasn’t been,” Overland Police spokeswoman Michelle Koos tells ABCNews.com.

Koos also tells ABC that the family never called the police to report any possible criminal activity. A University of Kansas official reported the situation to the authorities.

I'm sure that people want an explanation but she is not under any obligation to give one--at least to Facebook readers.

Rugen Team Investigations, LLC Missouri Private Investigator A reliable source tells me #AishaKhan did leave because she was not happy with her arranged marriage. She has never come back home since she left and faked an abduction.

Search for Aisha Khan cost OP taxpayers $36K in OT

The search for a missing Overland Park college student cost taxpayers at least $36,000.

Overland Park police said Wednesday that overtime for the 63 officers involved in the search for Aisha Khan totaled 788.75 hours at a cost of $35,954.38.

The police department did not detail other costs, such as gasoline or office supplies.

Officer Michelle Koos, spokeswoman for the Overland Park Police Department, said the overtime was the significant cost for the agency.

The amount also does not costs incurred by the FBI for their agents who assisted in the case or other law enforcement agencies.

Khan's family said last month they had received frantic voice mails from her indicating that she had been accosted by a drunk man. The 19-year-old girl vanished and her family believed she had been abducted from the University of Kansas' Edwards campus.

But the Johnson County Community College student left voluntarily, Overland Park Police announced several days later. Police said no crime occurred.

The woman, who married five months ago, had refused contact with her family after Overland Park police said they had verified that she was safe and had not been abducted.

Police and family members have declined to discuss the circumstances that led to Khan's actions.

Khan's family said they would donate the $10,000 reward fund to the OPPD and area charities.

Koos did not know whether the check has been received by the city of Overland Park and what the amount was. She said any monies would go directly to the city's treasury rather than the police department.

Officials with the city of Overland Park could not be reached for comment late Wednesday afternoon.
