"Larry King Live," 6/29. Star Jones discussion thr

Postby Jonathan Dolen » Thu Jun 29, 2006 1:54 pm

Hi all. Since this is the forum that most posters frequent, this should be a good place to discuss it. I was thinking about this, it kind of sounds like she might have gotten shafted by ABC. How come Ms. Walters wanted keep keep this situation a secret? Another question. What is this about when she first began, she could not go a sentence without saying that she is a lawyer? :D

Star Jones handled the announcement situation very badly. I've not read the People article.

The LKL interview should be interesting.

Jonathan, there is already a thread on Star Jones. You might want to check it out, it has some interesting stuff in it.

Edit: After reading some of the following posts, it seems as though I stated the above rather badly. Let me do-over.

Jonathan, this is a good idea to have this thread for discussion of the Star appearance on LKL tonight. For other good gossip on the topic, you might want to check out the other thread about Star because it has some good background and other info on it.

Mea culpa

At the risk of appearing intellectually inferior to some  I will post on this thread.

Barbara Walters was trying to protect Star Jones. She wanted Star to leave with some dignity.

Star still feels the need to remind us that she an attorney, an ex prosecutor, a Diva, covered the OJ Simpson case, etc. etc. :blah: :blah: every chance she gets.

The LKL interview tonight should be very interesting.

I agree 100%

Barbara Walters is very powerful behind the scenes in the media. If Star Jones wants to work in the media, IMO, she's shit out of luck now.

I doubt it! Her ego is HUGE.

I am sure many attorneys for ABC will be watching tonight.

honestly, she was always so beautiful and full of life. Her eyes were always sparkling with mischief. You are so right fashionista...about her face...and her eyes don't sparkle anymore...

The other day my friend said.."do you think she is happy in her marriage or do you think maybe she isn't feeling well"...made me feel sad...both would be terrible...

Maybe my friend hit it though cause barbara...seemed to be trying to be a good friend and protector

I think her wedding and her constant chatter about it on the show turned people off especially when they learned about all the freebies she received. Also, it seemed like every show she was trying to play the race card and that got old fast.

fiery, I so agree with you. Star just isn't "Star" anymore. Don't know why but I just felt embarrassed and sorry for her when she made her "play" on The View the other day. It was not a good tactic to me. My Dad always taught me not to burn bridge and, although I didn't always follow his teaching when I was very young, I was always shown the error of my ways if I didn't remember not to be so "smart".

I agree about the wedding and the wedding plans turned a lot of people off. She had her whole family on The View a few days before the wedding and even her mother said (paraphrase) Thank goodness it will be over soon and rolled her eyes. It was too much.

She was covering the "Red Carpet" for E! and they did not have her back this year.

Her book

I watched The View when she made her announcement, and I don't get what she said that was so wrong? She said she had decided to move on. She didn't attack anyone, did she? Is all this hullabaloo because she surprsed them with her anouncement timing?

I believe it is about "protocol". It was agreed by "all" that she would make the announcement on Thursday (today) b/c of the People magazine article coming out tomorrow. She blindsided Barbara Walters by making the announcement on Tuesday instead. You don't burn your bridges with folks like Barbara WAWA.

Yep, and I think Star's decision to go against the grain was just another example of what so many who've worked with her have said about her. She's a real "pill". She is just in it for herself and no one can trust her. Not a good way to get more work.
