if they were drinking for free, where did the 18k bar bill story come from?

Once I tried to break it down to see if 18K was an outrageous amount.

If there were 12 in the posse
If they each drank 5 drinks per day
If the drinks cost $10
and if they did that for a month...

It works.

my point being----


it it was "free", there is no "bill".

Right, and I agree. But there was a big discussion of the bar tab. I just wanted to see if there was any possible way it worked because 18K sounds very very expensive, unless you consider a lot of people and a long period of time.

So, is the bar tab now a myth? Like most everything in this damned frustrating case!

I found it strange that these very "Rich folks" with Jet, arrived at the site of a possiable "Kidnapping" without any CASH.
they had to borrow $3,ooo from Angela M 's family's Till. and were 45 minutes late getting there.

I agree with SandraK that this probably looked extremely strange to those on Aruba trying to help that first week. They flew in on a private jet. Yelled that their daughter was kidnapped. Had tremendous political connections so much so that by Saturday of that week there were 12 FBI agents on the island. Seemingly had very little cash between them. If there were six Americans with ATM card, they could at least get $500 a piece per day. Then they flew in a $37,000 Med Jet on Friday that stayed until Sunday. Obviously looking like VIP's to the Aruban ALE and others.

What would the average person think and do if they were the ALE? Okay, you big shot guys that sent 12 FBI agents. If you think that you can find her even though you do not speak papiemento, dutch, spanish etc, go ahead and do it yourself.

Food and Beverages. When they ordered a Tab was made up to send to the bar or kitchen, I would assume.
Beth would say.. "I'm Natalee's Mother. I don't pay" I'm sure they were hoping she would open her wallet @ Some point!!!

I have to say it is completely out of proportion. If you stand back, if it is Prince Harry or Virginia Page, okay, call State Dept, FBI, jump in your jet zoom on down, buy the damn medjet outright and have it follow you down.

But it is neither of them. Which when compared to how her friends treated her makes no sense whatsoever. That no one really cared she wandered off with three strangers in a car. You must think that this massive effort as above compared to the really nonchalant protection her friends provided has to mean something else.

Prince Harry or Virginia Page, if either ciimbed into a strangers car [or even were allowed the change if not stopped beforehand by their friends], you can be damn sure their friends would have blockaded the road, or chased after them.

Something is very very wrong.

There was a very good list posted on one of the Aruba travel sites; this was quite a while back. I used to drag it out at CTV when the whiners would go on and on about how no one in Aruba "helped" the H/Ts. I'm sure many are familiar with this; it is the one which stated that counseling was provided for the family. I'm pretty sure it included hotel/food comp estimates.

And I am fairly sure I heard the manager of the Wyndham state that the Presidential Suite was comped for Beth. This was on one of the talk shows; don't remember which one.
