Saw the Kanye West show last night. It's exhilerating. It's a science fiction story of his life. His spaceship crash lands on an empty planet. Film and graphics of space dominate a screen behind him and he communicates with 'Jane,' his computer guide. He tells his life story through songs and images. He describes pain of dropping out of college, losing his mother, frustration with imperfection and the desire to rid himself of worldly distractions. But it's lonely out in space. Through the show, he discovers isolation is futile. With the help of friendly stars he repairs his spaceship and returns to earth. Behind the large screen there was an orchestra using synthesizers and timpani. Props include glow in the dark lighting, talking planets, fireworks, gushing day-glo fountains and dry ice. Everyone was on their feet the entire show. It's an assault of all the senses. It's about having faith that life is worth living. The bad sucks but the humor and fun and interaction with others makes up for it. You educate yourself, accept there is loss, strive always to respect yourself and those around you. Then you party.
If you get a chance, see the show. It's a long tour, perhaps landing somewhere near you.
