Sorry Hamingway, I also don't have the answer.. I think, anyone of us have.. The only one that does know the answer to your question is Beth... IMO.. :cry:

It's pretty simple, AC.

She responded that she'll wait for a different answer than those provided - then commented that those answers weren't logical.

This thread has been a big help to me, however. It has helped me to understand HER logic - and how she has arrived at her opinion of this case. :wink:

I am just trying to understand what K. Hemingway sees with this question. Since there doesn't seem to be a theory behind her question....so she has stated....I don't understand why the answers given are not logical to her.

K. Hemingway....are you sure you don't have a theory on this? Something seems to be bothering you, regarding your question. Really, I'm just trying to understand your thought process. Why are the answers not logical to you....since you made that statement more than once, what is it that you see that, it seems, others don't?

I agree with Henk....it does seem Beth would be the only one to answer your question to your liking.

The suggestion being that Beth lied. Then obvious the next suggestion is that she lied deliberately. Why? That is in fact what you want to know right? Why did Beth lie.

My answer: I don't know. Maybe they did ask first for the poker tables and were told there weren't any tapes. After that they asked or were offered the blackjack tables tapes. I don't think every detail is in the book and a big part is not even written by Beth herself (by Sunny?) so I assume it's full of small errors and mistakes like this one. I wouldn't find that a problem. And I don't see the relevance unless you tell us what inspired you to start a new thread for this question.

I didn't suggest Beth lied. If you read back in my posts, I simply posted that, to me, the way the book is written for the average reader who hasn't followed the case, leaves a missing pc in the puzzle.

I offered a suggestion that maybe the book was just poorly written as one explanation for what I read.

So...a missing pc of the puzzle...for an unknown reason, but if the book is well written, it appears to be an intentional missing pc...

Or...

The book is poorly written.

I can't draw any conclusions one way or another until I know which one is the answer.

I do understand the question and I've missed to suggestive part of it. In this NH case I noticed all questions & details are looked at with 'suspicion', including the actual posters asking questions [I experienced this myself: lot of rotten tomatoes received

I'm starting to believe the author didn't know the difference between blackjack(-tables) and poker(-tables).. mixing them up.. not realizing some readers analyzing details extensively.

I play blackjack, carribbean poker all the time when I'm in the casino and I call them poker tables. A lot of casinos have all the poker tables together, even blackjack. Not a lot of casinos have separate rooms for poker tables. Oh, and I'm from the South, so maybe we just see it differently

I've played cards in casino's too...without separate rooms. To me...Poker tables are where different pokers games are played when dealer can call the game, like stud poker, or draw poker ..or if there is a tournament like the Texas Hold em... Black Jack tables are where Black Jack/21 is played...

If she thought black jack was poker, and she said Thomas played poker beside Joran, why didn't she just put in her book, 'we ask if there are videotapes of the poker tables' instead of 'We ask if there are videotapes of the blackjack tables.'

Yes...it's a small detail and may be the book is just written poorly from a detailed POV....or...maybe she intentionally left part out.

I honestly don't know....which is why I asked.

I have gone to casino's with friends and we have split up. If one says, 'I'll be at the Black Jack tables...I know that's different from the poker tables...

The context of the story in the book was to find out what Joran looked like. Thomas had told them at this time in the story he 'played poker beside him at the Excelsior Casino.'

They ask to see the videos of the black jack tables.

The video we've seen is at the black jack table.

Is that Thomas sitting next to Joran?
