It seems to be working as far as LE - not so much in pop culture.

Natalee, the musical: smakeloos en niet grappig

Merijn Henfling

Natalee, the musical: tasteless and not funny

Merijn Henfling
Published on June 22, 2009 16:53

Rotterdam - A U.S. teenager who disappeared in Aruba, a Dutch suspect, non-stop TV coverage, a hysterical mother, a zealous Dutch TV tracker, a confession for the hidden camera, but no prosecution - the history surrounding Natalee Holloway has enough drama.

The theater PIPS: lab, previously spectacular multi-media performances at The Parade brought, made with the Rotterdam art training Codarts a presentation on the disappearance of the American girl.

The group is particularly interested in the fact that personal suffering has become entertainment, which eventually coarse money is earned.

And what theater form fits best in here? Musical of course, in its most sugar sweet form. For a parody you good home and also what to say theatrical. Unfortunately this performance shooting his target.

In short scenes presented the company the 'highlights' from the case: mother Beth, Peter R. de Vries, the TV broadcast, the confession. All characters are played as exaggerated, but their lyrics are not sharp, let alone funny.

In between the group of poor, self-designed examples of commercial excesses: Joran-ringtones, McBeth citizen at McDonald's, the radio Looking for the new Joran.

Some overly sugar sweet musical songs are nice, but the question remains: which story would PIPS: lab now tell? Now it is mainly laugh at that crazy mother, that strange and sensational Patrick Peter R. An already not so tastefully tasteless subject is a presentation made.

I don't understand the difference in the musical and Beth's endorsement of the POS movie. Both are farces.

However, as Natalee's loving Mother, Beth should have known better.

Are they still investigating?
"Beth is a completely despicable piece of pond scum. She calculated and planned this murder. Most likely expecting it to be someone she considered a 'throw away' human from the barrio."
