De Amerikaanse tiener Natalee Holloway wordt zaterdag precies 4 jaar vermist. Het meisje op verdween op 30 mei 2005 na een avondje stappen op Aruba met Joran van der Sloot en twee van zijn vrienden. Haar lichaam is tot op de dag vandaag niet teruggevonden.

Een overzicht van de gebeurtenissen:

2005
- 30 mei: De 18-jarige Natalee verdwijnt spoorloos na een avond stappen.
- 6 juni: Nederlandse militairen, de Arubaanse politie, zeven FBI-agenten, eilandbewoners en zelfs toeristen starten een grote zoektocht.
- 9 juni: De politie arresteert Joran van der Sloot en de broers Deepak en Satish K. Zij zijn als laatsten gezien met Holloway.
- 23 juni: Ook de vader van Joran Paul van der Sloot wordt aangehouden, maar later bij gebrek aan bewijs weer vrijgelaten.
- 4 juli: Nederlandse F16s zoeken met speciale cameras Aruba en de oceaan eromheen af naar Holloway. De rechter laat Deepak en Satish K. vrij.
- 4 september: Joran komt vrij. Ook de broers K. worden, nadat ze op 25 augustus voor de tweede keer waren aangehouden, weer vrijgelaten.

2006
- 23 februari: Joran geeft een interview aan de Amerikaanse tv-zender ABC en vertelt onder meer dat hij Holloway op de avond van haar verdwijning alleen achterliet op het strand.
- 16 april: De kustwacht zoekt enkele dagen met sonarapparatuur op zee naar het lichaam van Holloway.

2007
- 21 november: Joran wordt in Arnhem aangehouden. Op Aruba zijn ook de broers Deepak en Satish K. weer aangehouden. Volgens het OM is nieuw bewijs tegen hen gevonden.
- 30 november: De broers K. worden vrijgelaten. De ouders van Natalee Holloway komen op Aruba aan, waar ze onder meer een gesprek met het OM hebben.
- 7 december: Joran wordt vrijgelaten, wegens onvoldoende, directe aanwijzingen voor zijn betrokkenheid bij een geweldsmisdrijf tegen Natalee.
- 18 december: Het OM staakt de vervolging van Van der Sloot en de broers K. wegens gebrek aan bewijs. De particuliere zoektocht op en rond Aruba door Natalees nabestaanden gaat door.

2008
- 11 januari: Na een optreden in tv-programma Pauw Witteman gooit Joran een glas wijn in het gezicht van Peter R. de Vries. Joran.
- 31 januari: Peter R. de Vries zegt de zaak-Holloway te hebben opgelost. Hij verklaart dat Natalee dood is. Details zegt hij te geven in zijn tv-programma op 3 februari.
- 1 februari: Het OM op Aruba bevestigt dat Joran van der Sloot een bekentenis heeft gedaan. Intussen wordt bekend dat Joran zich weinig aantrekt van de beschuldigingen.
- 3 februari: De uitzending van Peter R. de Vries brengt schokkende zaken aan het licht. Zeven miljoen Nederlanders hebben het programma bekeken.
- 15 februari: Het hof besluit Joran van der Sloot niet opnieuw op te pakken in verband met de verdwijning. Volgens het hof zijn de uitspraken van Joran in het programma van Peter R. de Vries niet voldoende om hem vast te zetten.

- February 3: The broadcast of Peter R. de Vries brings shocking things to light. Seven million Dutch people have viewed the program.
- February 15: The court decision Joran van der Sloot not re-suits in connection with the disappearance. According to the court the statements of Joran in the program by Peter R. de Vries is not sufficient for him to continue.

I like the title and she has truly missed 4 years that would have brought her to the conclusion of her college years. She might would have been engaged to be married by now or applying for medical schools or even might have changed majors. I hope she will rest in peace and that her family someday will get some kind of resolution. They have their memories of her to treasure.

What a waste of a perfectly good person. Here the world loses a potential doctor who may have made discoveries to better help mankind and all that's remembered is a bitchy mother and a narcissistic loser named Joran who likes to gamble, smoke weed, lie and sell Thai woman when he can. Your disappearance caused quite a stir and brought out the worst in a lot of people. They may have meant well but in the process of "keeping attention on you", they seemed to turn the "story" away from you toward themselves. Your mother did that and, not to be outdone, so did the main perp your mother identified to the police with little basis on day 2. Your disappearance is a mystery to many, some of whom hope you are alive, well, and happy somewhere out there and that all the stories people have made up about what happened to you are not true.

I haven't really followed the NH case since Joran did that whole sorta confession while smoking in the car with that scar guy. Would anyone mind telling me if anything significant has happened or will be happening in this case? I did see there were 1 or 2 movies about NH??

He sold Greta a story about selling Thai girls into prostitution and that Paulus paid off a couple of dirty cops but he was just storytelling for money - sort of prostituting himself...

According to Dutch tabloids, Joran taped a show with Terror Jaap, a reality show winner/loser (depends on one's perspective) that includes Joran hooked up to a lie detector - it hasn't aired yet.


As far as Natalee's disappearance - it has not been resolved - she has not been seen or heard from since Joran claims he left her at the beach..and no charges have been filed. The case is supposedly still "open".

We have learned nothing significantly new in regards to where Natalee is at this particular moment and how she got there.

Mos is no longer in Aruba, hence he has passed the case to his replacement. Hopefully he can be more successful than his predecessors in solving this case.
