But, his reaction could also be from the kind of questions he was asked. As Bachus pointed out on June 5, just days after Natalee had disappeared, there were "disturbing circumstances the family was aware of". IMO, those questions were the reason for him getting ballistic.
ALE had also gathered a LOT of information before Jug Twitty was asked to give his statement. Add to that the very bizarre behavior of the Twittys: they said one thing to ALE and Aruban people via TV or radio announcement and then, they said the opposite on US National TV.
And: the Twittys claimed right from the start that "Natalee was kidnapped". They brought "Kidnapped" posters with them on the airplane. Why would they think their daughter was kidnapped? A question ALE was wondering about for sure. Then, you have Bearman making comments in interviews like "We had a good flight to Aruba, we were all laughing and joking but when our private jet hit the grounds of Aruba, Beth would put on her 'serious face'". What is THAT about? A complete contradiction! AGAIN!
There are many examples where the Twittys contradicted themselves, were they showed a very bizarre behavior to a point where they became suspicious. And they did not make any sense, IMO.
CK a/k/a Cherokea,, give this a think: Natalee was a responsible young woman. Beth gets the call that she isn't there to make her flight. Beth knows that this is totally out of character for Natalee and that something is very wrong.
Scrap the 100 mph ride back to MB, lots of drama inserted on Beth's part. She has already called Jug and the plane has been arranged for (donated, contributed, loaned, whatever) and their friends (the Fab 7) went with for moral support. Natalee was missing. Something was wrong.
Now you're on a plane with the Mom and step-Dad of the missing young woman. Are you really going to start a conversation about have you considered that she is dead or to create a calmer scenario, might you say when we get a hold of her .... in order to make the Mom of the missing young woman feel better about this dreadful situation that no parent anywhere would want to go through.
Beth knew that Natalee didn't just go off. She was hoping against hope and sadly it was too late. Perhaps with ALE spewing the she'll show up routine, just maybe that was more preferable to believe than my daughter is most likely dead and I will never see her again.
ETA Yes, there are contradictions but Beth and Jug were not there. You know that. If they were, and ALE doesn't know that, well, what can I say. If they did know it, that would have been known.
More importantly and more bizarre are the lies told by three supposedly innocent young men. Yes, we have all heard that those lies were because of fright and fear and inconsequential. Innocent people do not lie and continue to lie in a case involving a missing young woman. They might with a minor infraction, not IMO in what might be a murder case.
If they didn't know her fate, they wouldn't have known that she wasn't murdered or a victim of foul play and that they would be the prime suspects because of their lies and inconsistent statements.
Now YIF, don't make that sound as if I had an alter ego!
The thing is: whatever Beth Twitty says, it can NOT be believed, IMO. There were too many occasions where she claimed one thing and later it turns out, the opposite is the case!
Some of the MB students said that Natalee was the "leader" of their group. That she was a wild one. That she had to chase after a bus in order to catch it. I have also heard from locals while I was the first time on Aruba that Natalee had left her group many times and was on her own. Her behavior while on Aruba was wild. She was excessively drinking, was in possession of cocaine and according to Peter DeVries' first show (before he teamed up with Beth Twitty), he revealed that Natalee had offered cocaine to others (friends? roommates? I'm not sure).
The way, Beth Twitty acted, to be in such a hurry to rush down to Aruba indicates to me, that she KNEW some kind of trouble was going on. IMO, NOT just because she did not show up in the morning in the lobby. I believe, there were problems before Natalee went to Aruba. I also believe, Beth Twitty and Natalee spoke over the phone and more trouble had come up. Natalee told Joran she did not want to go back to Alabama. Now, Joran lied a lot. BUT, I would say, Natalee told the same thing to her friends during her Aruba stay. However, Beth Twitty claimed she was NOT in touch with Natalee. According to Joe Tacopina, she had lied about this.
When the Twittys and the posse rushed to Aruba, they did not take lots of clothes with them. One stated they did not expect to stay for a longer period of time. They thought, they can go down there, get Natalee and go home right away.
What does that indicate? IMO, that they did NOT think Natalee was kidnapped but tried to use this to INTIMIDATE whoever was hiding Natalee. Beth Twitty was CONVINCED that Natalee was in the VDS home! She wanted police to go in that same night that the posse arrived in Aruba and went to the VDS home! The acted like "Cowboys". They were yelling and threatening, trying to scare and intimidate! They started out with a LIE the minute they set foot on Aruba! Which raised a lot of red flags for ALE, I'm sure.
It's right that the Twittys were not on Aruba when Natalee disappeared. However, when a person goes missing, there are always several scenarios what could have caused it: did she run away? Did she commit suicide? Had she health problems and died accidentally? Was a crime committed against her? ect. Law enforcement ALWAYS looks at the family first! No matter if they were there or not. We have many cases here at RU where family members are questioned. They do not have to be suspects but they need to fully cooperate with LE so that LE gets knowledge which what kind of person they are dealing with and if there is a CAUSE why this person went missing.
You described Jug Twitty's personality, being an A Type. Joran had also problems BEFORE Natalee went missing: he had problems with telling the truth, he lied a lot about even small things. When the posse arrived at their home, Paul VDS demanded Joran to TELL THE TRUTH! Charles Croes did a great job when he took Joran to the side, talked to him, got info out of him and just when Joran started to open up, one of the drunk posse guys yelled "You Aruban assholes..." and everything was over then. I don't know if Joran would have told everything right then and there, we will never know, as this chance is gone thanks to this posse guy.
