Lots of storms here, too, CK, but not as severe as those in TX. Be careful!

Overnight, the weather has returned to more early spring like, with a strong NW wind and a temp in the low 50's...brrrrrrrrrrr! I mowed 2/3 of my lawn yesterday, and wanted to finish up today, but it is going to be really cold, and what's left is on the NW part of my property....I might let it go till tomorrow.

On a very sad note, my 97 year old neighbor lady, was found dead in bed last evening, having died peacefully in her sleep....she lived alone, her husband and two sons having all died before her. She was a spry and sweet little thing and the stretcher looked empty when they brought her out. RIP, Ruth!

.. oh, how sad, DT. Well, she lived a long life and she went peacefully. That's about the best any of us can hope for. :)

Hope everyone has a good day. I'm helping my dad clean out his garage. It's fun seeing things that I haven't seen for years. Found some things I wrote for school as a kid. Boy, I was a smart ass back then too. :)

It's been an interesting day on Capital Hill with the Goldman Sachs bunch sitting there lying through their teeth.

Oh, and hip hip hooray for those Republicans voting to not let the reform bill be discussed...and that jerk Ben Nelson from NE voting with the Republicans. Who do they seriously think they are fooling?

Their constituents, imo. Yes, I read Nelson and his wife own $6 million in Berkshire Hathaway stock. I'm disappointed republicans chose to block public debate on bank reform. I think we need regulations designed to help Main Street.

On a positive note, individuals can move money to local community banks. I'm not saying it's right for everyone, but it's worth exploring. I looked into it and did it. It feels good doing less business with big banks.

I think that is a good idea. You're not just an account number. It used to be that way.

Take photos of elephants 'drawing' them and try to sell them as 'amazing animal art'.

Yeah, you can meet people in person. Which leads to a joke. A guy calls a depression hotline and gets an operator outsourced to Pakistan. Guy says 'I want to kill myself.' Operator says 'Would you like to drive a truck?'

.. good-night, Pax.

It has been awhile since I moved ... 8 years and then it was international movers and they did it all. Now, we're moving locally and would you believe that boxes are a big thing. Hell, I remember going into my local Jewel or liquor store and getting boxes whenever I needed the. Well, here, there is no prob getting wine carton with the dividers [which can be used for glasses as well] but I spent a good deal of time on ordering boxes and finally ordered them from the UK, and they will be here next Tuesday or Wednesday.

One part of French life, I am still not quite accustomed to ... is the lack of definitives ... such as what is our date of closing, what date are we moving, etc. They are very laid back on these things. My hubby has become a Frenchman, and he just replies that everything will be fine.

Night all ....
:)

YIF, you should see the pile of boxes we recycle every day at work! We flatten them but a little duct tape on the bottom and they become instant boxes again...I wish I could send you some.

Thanks, DT, but the truckload will be here soon enough. My hubby thinks that I ordered too many but the delivery fee was the same for any amount and I wanted to be sure that I had enough.

It is amazing the amount of books that we have accumulated in eight years.

Welcome, Savannah! It's a lovely day right now here in the midwest...no wind, sunny blue skies, and I have to finish mowing the lawn. So far this spring, these kinds of days have been rare. Either it's so windy you can barely stand up, or it's storming, or cloudy and cool.

I am really concerned about the oil spill, however, and that brings me back to reality with a greasy bang.

I was never for offshore drilling because of the environment, but I adjusted my thinking because we need to be energy independent and so, if that would do it, OK. Now this happens .. we weren't meant to play around with the environment or mother nature.

We're going to destroy ourselves.

Instead of 'drill, baby drill!' we need to be getting off the oil tit as Bill Mahr says, and using other energy. And fast.
